Twelfth Night

As we had visitors at home (my parents!) for the whole festive season (a fortnight, actually), I took a break from computers and just enjoyed some walks through our city with Mom almost every morning. I'm still a bad blogger, so did not take photos everyday, nor captured our apéro time at local tabernas. Too busy having fun!

I asked Mr.A. to take some pictures of us when going for a walk and groceries shopping, both wearing our green coats (Team Trench!). That brooch was a hand-me-down by Mom. I wore a summery dress from Vinted, second hand cardi, scarf by AlpagaLeMonde (old), Camper shoes and cork bag by FineCorkPortugal. Raincoat by Seasalt (old).
Esta foto nos la tomó Mr.A. cuando íbamos a hacer unas compras y dar una vuelta, las dos llevando gabardinas verdes. Este broche me lo dió Mamá. The weather was still autumnal during the festive season, so we went for a walk every morning, sometimes just a walk in the park, making the most of our holidays!. Obviously, we had to join Mom as she likes the festive atmosphere and lights and stuff, which are not our favourite things ever. Same for shopping frenzy (we don't do presents). Anyway, that's usually a quiet holiday!
That's what I wore for a walk: my trusty Seasalt coat, that homegrown vintage skirt (so old it's vintage!), crochet pullover, Camper shoes. That pendant was a present, the necklace was charity shopped and those resin rings were retail shopped ages ago.
El tiempo no estaba muy frío durante las fiestas, más bien otoñal, así que salimos a dar una vuelta cada mañana, aprovechando las vacaciones!. Claro está que acompañamos a Mamá, porque a ella sí que le gusta el ambiente festivo, las luces y la gente, pero en general estuvimos muy tranquilos. Y como tampoco hacemos regalos, no hay estrés con las compras!
Lo que llevaba: el abrigo de Seasalt habitual, una falda tan antigua que ya es vintage, jersey de ganchillo, zapatos Camper, un colgante que me regalaron, collar de una tienda solidaria y unos anillos de una tienda local, hace años.

Another day, same alley!. Not the most glamourous background, but it's usually an unfrequented alley leading to the Cathedral. Mom was wearing same raincoat, which she acquired retail. I picked a warmer coat (retail shopped years ago) and a second hand dress which was jazzed up by Ramonak Workshop, Snag tights, old Adidas sneakers and my new bag (recently retail shopped, label Lolina). I pinned some 'vaguely seasonable' badges to my dress, from my small collection of USSR trinkets (acquired around 1992). Kind of pop irony?.

Otro día pero el mismo callejón, que no es muy elegante, pero suele pasar poca gente y es céntrico (lleva a la Catedral!). Mamá llevaba el mismo abrigo, que es de una tienda local. Yo elegí mi abrigo de lunares (de hace unos años) y un vestido que compré de segunda mano y llevé a 'animar' al taller de Ramonak Workshop, diseñadora local. Medias Snag, zapatillas Adidas antigüitas y mi nuevo bolso (marca Lolina) que compré hace poquito. Y le añadí al vestido unas insignias más o menos relacionadas con la época festiva, nada en realidad, porque son de mi (pequeña) colección de insignias de la URSS (que están conmigo desde aprox. 1992). Ironía pop?

We just went for a walk on Twelfth Night, shopped some fresh bread and newspapers, and had our usual apéro, leading our usual wild lifestyle. It's a totally crazy day, with many families attending cavalcades and lots of people looking for the last presents. So we just avoided the commercial streets and street markets (as usual)!.

El día antes de Reyes simplemente salimos a dar una vuelta, comprar el pan y el periódico y tomar el vermú, en nuestro habitual modo de vida tan salvaje. Es un día muy loco, con todas las familias en las cabalgatas y mucha gente buscando regalos de última hora, así que mejor quitarse de en medio y evitar las zonas comerciales y mercadillos.
Mismo abrigo de lunares, una falda de costura propia (antigüita), medias Snag y zapatillas Adidas.

We've celebrated the last event in our long festive season, Twelfth Day or Epiphany, and obviously it was a holiday bank here in Spain (see here) and a perfect occasion to stay at home if you're like us and not involved in usual frenzy.
I never make any special resolutions, but wish you luck if you've made some!. Hope you've enjoyed your holidays!

December & Winter (finally)

I'm taking you a fortnight ago, when we visited my parents at my hometown and enjoyed some walks (even if avoiding the bustling comercial streets). We also payed a visit to my favourite Nativity scene (and there are many beautifully displayed ones!), as that one has life-size figures which are settled down in a centric park, so you find scenes at every corner (a huge fan since childhood!).

Retrocediendo quince días, estaba de visita en casa de mis padres en mi ciudad natal, donde estuvimos recorriendo las calles (aunque evitando las calles comerciales que obviamente estaban a tope). También teníamos que visitar mi Belén favorito, que es éste que me encanta desde la infancia, porque las figuras son de tamaño natural y se colocan en un parque de la ciudad formando escenas, así que puedes encontrártelas en cualquier rincón.

Next days were hectic at work, which is totally normal, as everybody wants to finish the paperwork before holidays. So I kept it colourful & comfy and wore some vitaminic ensembles (yes, it worked!, some clothes really improved my mood!).

Los siguientes días fueron muy ajetreados en el trabajo, algo completamente normal, porque todo el mundo quiere acabar el papeleo antes de navidad. Así que elegí ponerme cositas cómodas y coloridas, todo muy vitamínico, porque siempre mejora el humor!

Lots of (orange) colour under my sensible trenchcoat (by Seasalt)!. That's what I wore my first day at work after a long weekend as December 8th is a holiday bank here (so some colour therapy was welcomed!). Dress was acquired at Vinted (last year). Second hand cardi and turtleneck both came from Sunday street market. Necklace was made of leftover beads. Tights by Snag. Shoes by Camper (old). Earrings were retail shopped years ago. Cork bag by FineCorkPortugal (old).
Mucho color (naranja) debajo del típico abrigo práctico de invierno (de Seasalt). Esto es lo que me puse el primer día de trabajo después del puente de Diciembre, ya que hacía falta un toque de color para animar el día. El vestido es de Vinted (del año pasado). Chaquetita de punto y cuello vuelto ambos de segunda mano del mercadillo del domimngo. Collar hecho de unas bolitas sobrantes. Medias de Snag. Zapatos Camper. I wore a similar ensemble again next day, which was a rainy day (so no outdoor photos). Obviously, I picked a favourite Repeat Offender, my Seasalt coat, which is water&wind proof. But did not felt that colour combo, the cardi is not a fab colour at all, so I'll probably let it go. Dress acquired at Vinted (label Toscane). Second hand cardi. Same Camper shoes. Retail shopped scarf (ages ago). Charity shopped necklace and brooch. Retail shopped earrings (label MateriaRica). Crochet beret.
Al día siguiente me puse algo muy parecido, pero no pude sacar fotos fuera por la lluvia. Claro está que elegí el clásico Reincidente, el abrigo de Seasalt, que es muy práctico con lluvia y con viento. Pero no quedé muy contenta con el colorido, en especial el de esta chaquetita de punto, que no acaba de gustarme, así que probablemente se vaya fuera. El vestido es de Vinted (marca Toscane). La chaquetita es de segunda mano. Mismos zapatos Camper. Bufanda de una tienda local, de hace siglos. Broche y collar de tiendas solidarias. Pendientes de tienda local (marca MateriaRica). Boina de ganchillo.

Also a windy and rainy day, but a different attitude, particularly because I wore my New Bag. I broke my own rules and acquired a PU bag (after commiting myself to acquire only sustainableand fixable materials). I really hope to make the most of it for next ten years (I usually squeeze every wear out of my accessories too).
I wore lots of purple to match my fab Camper shoes (that I shopped at summer sales!). That haori-style jacket was retail shopped from a local designer (years ago). Second hand striped pullover. Usual polka-dot coat was retail shopped years ago (label Sophiacurvy).

Otro día de viento y lluvia, pero con una actitud distinta, en especial porque estrenaba mi bolso Nuevo!. Y así he roto una de mis reglas básicas, porque compré este bolso de plástico (después de comprometerme a no comprar más que materiales sostenibles y reparables). De verdad espero sacarle partido durante los próximos diez años, mínimo, porque intento siempre aprovechar al máximo cada prenda y cada accesorio.
Mucho color morado para combinar con mis zapatillas Camper (compradas en rebajas de verano). La chaqueta estilo haori es de una diseñadora local, comprada hace años. Jersey de rayas de segunda mano. Mi clásico abrigo de lunares lo compré en tienda local hace años (marca Sophiacurvy).

We did our usual groceries shopping on Saturday morning, and I wore some Repeat Offenders again, same Seasalt coat over a dress&cardi. That's another Toscane dress from Vinted and I've worn it with same crochet cardi and same Skechers sneakers many times through seasons. I do love a versatile, easy to layer piece that I can keep in my wardrobe all year long.

El sábado por la mañana tocaba hacer la compra, y me puse unos cuantos reincidentes otra vez, el mismo abrigo Seasalt sobre un vestido y chaqueta. Este vestido es otro de Toscane que compré en Vinted y me lo he puesto con esta misma chaquetita de ganchillo y zapatillas Skechers muchas otras veces, desde el verano. Me gusta especialmente una prenda versátil, que funcione en superposiciones, de modo que pueda llevarla el año entero.

Lots of rainy and windy days to come, so Colour to the rescue (which, in my book, means Orange colour). That puffy jacket was retail shopped (old). Dress came from Vinted. Crochet beret and mittens. Camper shoes again!.
A continuación, muchos días de viento y lluvia, así que tocaba Color Al Rescate!. Particularmente Color Naranja!. Esta chaqueta acolchada es de una tienda local. El vestido es de Vinted, antigüito. Boina y mitones de ganchillo. Y las zapatillas Camper otra vez.

More wintery outfits, this time I unearthed an old knit dress in teal and added some layers of Colour. I know that my crochet cardi is too long for that coat, but who can resist the temptation of matchiness?!. Coat by Ulla Popken (last year). Tights by Snag. Shoes by Elementérre (old). Retail shopped beret. Usual cork bag by Fine Cork Portugal.
Más tiempo invernal, así que recurrí a un viejo clásico de esta temporada, este vestido de punto color azulverdoso, ya antigüito, y le añadí unas capas de colorido. Ya sé que la chaqueta de ganchillo sobresale del abrigo, es demasiado larga, pero ¿quién puede resistirse cuando los colores combinan?. El abrigo es de Ulla Popken, del año pasado. Medias Snag. Zapatos Elementérre. Boina de una tiendecita. Y el habitual bolso de corcho de FineCorkPortugal.

Here Comes The Winter

It has been a long time since my last post, time flies when you're busy!. We had visitors at home for ten days, (Mr.A.'s parents) and obviously we had to celebrate that his mom had a clean bill of health after her last check-up. Great news for an eighty-something lady, so we probably exceeded a little bit, but had a great time!. Then, probably because of that, I was damn sick for some days with gastroenteritis and received one of the most nonsensical comments about it. Somebody told me that being sick have the (supposed) silver lining of loosing some weight. And no, I did not tell her what she could do with her comments (but gently blocked her, that's how I deal with backhanded comments). When I was still recovering, we had to go to the doctors again as Mr.A. got an infection (he's now on the mend!). I've been also busy with other 'entertaining' activities concerning red tape, and then my computer crashed. So I've spent last days reinstalling stuff, which is something that everybody enjoys (irony, obviously!). I've been really busy last weeks!.

Ha pasado mucho tiempo, pero estoy de vuelta, después de una temporada muy ocupada. Hemos tenido de visita en casa a los padres de Mr.A. y claro está que teníamos que celebrar por todo lo alto que su madre ya ha pasado las revisiones y está todo bien. Buenas noticias que había que festejar, y lo pasamos estupendamente. Pero luego vinieron las consecuencias y yo me puse enferma con gastroenteritis. De paso, alguien me hizo un comentario de ésos que te retratan, porque me dijo que podía sacar algo positivo de estar enferma, porque perdería peso. Y ni siquiera le dije dónde se podía meter el comentario, sino que (con toda la amabilidad del mundo) la he bloqueado y he seguido con mi vida. Cuando todavía me estaba recuperando, tuvimos que ir otra vez a urgencias, esta vez con Mr.A.(ya está en tratamiento y mejor). También he estado entretenidísima con otras actividades 'divertidas', haciendo papeleo burocrático, y luego con problemas informáticos. Nada como pasarse dos días reinstalando todo en el ordenador, es algo que todos disfrutamos (ironía, obviamente!). Así que he estado liada!

I'm taking you back in time, a month ago!. The weather was still quite warm, so I did not have to wear any winter coat. Obviously, it didn't lasted!
I wore my Seasalt jacket (old) over a beach tunic (second hand) and my new fuchsia trousers (Ulla Popken). Added my black&white shawl, which was retail shopped many years ago. And some old boots.
Aquí volvemos atrás en el tiempo un mes, cuando todavía hacía buen tiempo y no era necesario llevar abrigo de invierno. Claro está que no duró mucho esta bonanza
Llevaba esta chaqueta negra de Seasalt sobre lo que en realidad es una túnica playera (de segunda mano) que suelo llevar a menudo con cuello vuelto negro. Pantalón de Ulla Popken, recientemente adquirido!. El chal lo compré en una tienda local hace años. Y las botas son antigüitas.

My extremely warm crochet jumper is becoming a Favourite for cold days. It's made of wool, so it feels like wearing a blanket, a fabulously soft and colourful one!. And it's totally vitaminic!. Those leggings were recently acquired at Snag, really comfy too!. My yellow boots (by NorthFace) were retail shopped at a local outlet business (last winter) and Mr.A. shopped another identical pair. But we don't dress matchy outfits (actually, we avoid them actively).
Este jersey de ganchillo está resultando estupendo para los días fríos, es muy térmico, porque es de lana, como llevar una mantita, una suave y agradable y además muy colorida. Me anima el día ponérmelo, con esos colores es vitamínico!. Los leggings son Snag, los compré hace poco, también muy cómodos. Las botas amarillas de NorthFace son de una tienda local que vende restos/outlet, y las compré el invierno pasado. Como a Mr.A. también le gustaban mucho, se compró otro par. Pero no vamos a juego!, en realidad lo evitamos a toda costa.

Another favourite outfit for cold and rainy days, so totally a Repeat Offender. That jungle-print dress has been in my wardrobe for years, and I've packed it in my luggage many times, as it's totally unwrinkable and easy to layer. It's a second hand piece from eBay (do you remember when we used to shop second hand there?). I wore it over one of my many viscose turtle-necks, which are really useful. And added another layer, a fleece jacket (don't judge me!) in hot pink (by CandA, ages old). Waterproof coat by Seasalt. Black boots by Treksta (ages old too!).
Otro favorito para los días fríos y lluviosos y un reincidente es este vestido de estampado jungla. Lo tengo hace años, y lo he llevado en mi equipaje muchas veces, porque no se arruga nada y muy versátil para superposiciones. Lo compré de segunda mano en eBay (os acordáis cuando era allí donde comprábamos segunda mano?). Me lo puse sobre uno de estos cuellos vueltos de viscosa, que tengo a montones. Y luego una chaqueta de forro polar (no me juzguéis, ya sé que no es nada glamuroso) del CandA, que tiene años también. El abrigo impermeable es de Seasalt. Botitas negras de Treksta, antigüitas.

Finally, we had a light layer of snow on nearby mountains, and some Winter weather days, for a change. I don't miss snow or cold days, but it was feeling strange not watching some snow on the mountains, when that was the 'usual' landscape since November.
I wore that classic black&white ensemble again which is totally a no brainer. Lots of matchiness (not everybody's cup of tea!). Striped dress was acquired at CandA summer sales two years ago, and never worn in the Summer (polyester knit!). Red turtleneck by LaRedoute (old). Tights by Snag. Shoes by Camper (old). That briefcase-tote bag was charity shopped ages ago. Massive pendant by a local artisan.

Finalmente cayó una capita de nieve en los montes cercanos, y tuvimos unos días de clima invernal, para variar. No es que eche de menos ni la nieve ni el frío, pero estaba siendo rarísimo no ver nieve en los montes, cuando suele ser el paisaje 'normal' para esta época del año, desde noviembre.
De nuevo me puse esta clásica combinación en blancoynegro, de lo más socorrida. Y muy conjuntada (ya sé que no es del gusto de todo el mundo). El vestido de rayas es de las rebajas de verano del CandA, hace dos años, y nunca me lo he puesto en verano, porque es punto fino, sí, pero de poliéster. El cuello vuelto en rojo de LaRedoute. Medias Snag. Zapatos Camper. El portadocumentos-bolsa es de una tienda solidaria, hace años. Colgante negro obra de una artista local.

Autumn Is For Crochet

The weather has been unseasonably warm (again and again) last weeks, with only a few moments of cold breeze or rain. I don't miss cold temperatures nor snow (nope), but this not-so-autumnal weather feels actually strange. And obviously, the rain is something very appreciated in our region, even if it could annoy people in their quotidian lifes. Mixed feelings!

El tiempo sigue siendo muy poco otoñal, demasiado cálido para esta época del año, con sólo unos pocos momentos de viento frío o lluvia. No es que esté echando de menos las temperaturas bajas o la nieve (ni hablar!), pero este clima se me hace rarísimo. Y claro está, la lluvia es muy bienvenida en nuestra región, aunque luego molesta en la vida cotidiana y la gente refunfuña. Sentimientos encontrados!

This is what I wore last Monday, which was one of the few 'real autumn' weather days. It was cold enough to wear my new crochet pullover: Totally colourful attitude for a Monday. That's another pattern by Katie Jones, whose designs I love, but I picked bolder colours. It was quite joyful and funny to make, which I really appreciate in a pattern, as I think that not just the result but the process has to be beautiful (and entertaining). Another new piece I wore were those trousers by Ulla Popken. I don't shop new clothes frequently, only trousers because they're almost impossible to find second hand in my neck of the woods. In the hen's teeth cathegory. And obviously, I had to wear my purple Camper shoes (keeping it bold!). That coat was shopped at Ulla Popken too, but last year (and it's a quite versatile and useful coat, even if not waterproof).
Esto es lo que llevaba el lunes pasado, uno de los pocos días de tiempo realmente otoñal, lo bastante frío como para estrenar este jersey de ganchillo: colorido a tope para animar el lunes. Este patrón es también de Katie Jones, y me encantan sus diseños, pero elegí colores más vivos. Ha sido de lo más entretenido y divertido de hacer, que es algo que aprecio mucho en un patrón, porque pienso yo que no sólo importa que el resultado sea bonito, también tiene que serlo el proceso (y tiene que disfrutarse). Otra cosita nueva son los pantalones, de Ulla Popken: no compro ropa nueva casi nunca, pero es que los pantalones son imposibles de encontrar de segunda mano en mis habituales tiendas y puestos, rarísimo que aparezcan. Y por supuesto tenía que ponerme también mis nuevos zapatos de Camper, más colorido!. El abrigo también es de Ulla Popken, pero del año pasado, y me está resultando bastante versátil y cómodo, aunque no es impermeable.

Next day I decided to keep it bold, so picked another colourful crochet pullover (pattern here) and my 'joyful' skirt which I sewed ages ago (using some Ikea fabric). Snag tights. Adidas sneakers (old).
Al día siguiente decidí seguir con la temática multicolor, así que elegí otro jersey con colorido animado (patrón de aquí) y esta falda tan alegre que me hice hace siglos (con tela de Ikea!). Medias Snag. Zapatillas de Adidas (antigüitas).

My repeat offender of the week!, same 'harlequin' pullover with usual turquoise-mint trousers (retail, old). It was a quite warm day but windy, so I wore that neon windbreaker-trench-thing (retail). So difficult to take photos in the wind!, but I tried it.
Mi reincidente de la semana es este jersey 'arlequín', que me puse con estos habituales pantalones color turquesa (de una tiendecita). Mucho viento, aunque la temperatura seguía bastante cálida. Así que me puse esta especie de gabardina-cortavientos discretísima, de una tienda local. Complicadísimo sacar fotos con viento!.

More crochet pullovers!. That was my first 'diamonds' pullover, a pattern I've repeated a few times. I've frequently worn that pullover with my so-old-it's-vintage skirt (which was acquired retail when I was seventeen and still fits me due to an elastic waistband!). Camper shoes and Snag tights.
The wind was playing havoc with my clothes, another difficult day to take photos!

Más jerseys de ganchillo!. Este fue el primero que hice con este patrón de rombos, y no fue el último!. Este jersey lo he llevado en otras ocasiones con esta misma falda, que es mi falda tan-vieja-que-ya-es-vintage, comprada cuando tenía unos diecisiete años y que me sigue valiendo gracias a la cintura elástica. Zapatos Camper y medias Snag.

En este último conjunto no hay más ganchillo. Simplemente este vestido antigüito, que llevé al taller de una diseñadora local Ramonak Workshop para darle un toque diferente. La chaquetita bolero es del CandA. Zapatillas Adidas. Pañuelo de una tienda solidaria.
