Totally in a Colour Therapy Month myself, so I took advantage of winter sales and bought a new coat (as if I needed one!) at a heavy discount. Obviously not beige. The seasonal sales can look quite outdated when 'special offers' are everywhere all the time, but they're still a thing. And I think that sales are a good time to fill the gaps in your wardrobe, acquiring a coat or winter boots for a fraction of the price, or shopping some underwear or socks (I'm that old-school). And I recommend to keep your eyes peeled for any 'out of season' item which you could find, from bikinis in January to wool coats in July, that most people usually skip. But the best advice ever is to keep to the budget and second best is to focus on what's important To You!. Remember that fashion industry (which includes second hand market) is designed neither for your advantage nor for your happiness. So let's keep focused on creativity and joy!

Como sigo en mi momento de ColorTerapia, no pude evitar aprovechar las rebajas para comprar este abriguito nuevo (como si necesitase uno!) con un descuento buenísimo. Y claro está, no es beige. Las rebajas de fin de temporada puede que sean una cosa del pasado, ahora que nos invaden las ofertas 'especiales' a cada momento, pero todavía existen. Y siguen siendo un buen momento para comprar artículos que todos necesitamos, como un abrigo o botas de invierno (que además suelen ser caros!), o incluso ropa interior o calcetines (una compra sin glamour pero necesaria!). Y también hay que mantenerse alerta ante ofertas en artículos 'fuera de temporada', desde bikinis en enero a abrigos de lana en julio, que la mayoría de gente pasa de largo. Pero el mejor consejo que puedo dar es respetar tu presupuesto, y el segundo mejor es no perder de vista lo que de verdad importa, tus gustos, tus intereses. Hay que recordar en todo momento que la industria de la moda (y esto incluye la de segunda mano) no está hecha para tu beneficio, ni para cubrir tus necesidades ni para hacerte feliz (eso nunca!). Así que mejor centrarse en lo que nos importa, ser creativas y lo más felices que podamos!

That's my new bold coat by Ulla Popken. I've acquired a few pieces from this brand, both second hand and new, because I discover it at second hand stalls (where they sell clothes from different countries, so lots of labels I've never seen), then looked for that brand at Vinted and finally I acquired some new clothes (on sales!). So I did the route backwards (and not sponsored, obviously). Anyway, it's a really comfortable, soft and versatile coat, despite I was afraid that being two-coloured could make it difficult to style. I've been told that it probably makes me visible from space, which I decided it's a compliment!. I wore it for the first time on a sunny Tuesday, with some knit trousers (also by Ulla Popken) and a second hand blouse. Obviosly, I had to wear purple shoes (Camper). And my recently acquired bag by Lolina (retail shopped).

Y aquí está mi abrigo nuevo, nada discreto, de Ulla Popken. Últimamente he comprado algunas prendas de esta marca, tanto de segunda mano como nuevas, porque primero la descubrí en los mercadillos de segunda mano (donde hay ropa de diferentes países, así que hay etiquetas que no he visto en la vida), luego la busqué en Vinted, y finalmente compré de la marca online (en rebajas), así que hice el camino al revés. Y tampoco me patrocinan ni nada. Bueno, pues el abrigo es cómodo, suave y bastante versátil, a pesar de que pensaba que sería más difícil de combinar por ser bicolor. De paso, me han comentado que probablemente se me vea desde el espacio con este abrigo puesto, lo cual he decidido que es un cumplido!. Lo estrené un martes soleado, con unos pantalones de punto (que también compré en Ulla Popken) y una blusa de segunda mano. Y claro está que tenía que ponerme mis zapatillas moradas de camper. Y este bolso de Lolina (comprado en una tiendecita local).

It's still freezing cold in the mornings (2ºC) but the temperature can rise quickly as soon as sun is high, so typically spring weather!. Usually I pick layers as my strategy but always prefer to be a little bit cold in the morning than having to drag myself in the midday heat. So I wore some summery trousers (retail shopped years ago) and a lightweight blouse that I acquired second hand (label Gudrun Sjoden). It's more colourful in person, but it's difficult to photograph!. That vest was crocheted by me using a 70's pattern. Sneakers by Adidas outlet. Second hand beads and retail shopped earrings. Vintage sunnies were a present by my friend M.
Todavía hace frío por las mañanas (2ºC) pero luego suben las temperaturas rapidito en cuanto hace sol, así que típico tiempo primaveral. Normalmente las superposiciones son lo mejor, pero siempre prefiero pasar un poco de frío por la mañana que arrastrar la ropa luego al mediodía con el sofoco. Así que me puse unos pantalones de verano (de tienda local, hace años) y una blusa muy ligera que compré de segunda mano (de Gudrun Sjoden), y que es más colorida en persona pero no se fotografía bien. El chaleco es de ganchillo, con un patrón de los setenta. Zapatillas Adidas outlet. Collar de segunda mano y pendientes de comercio local. Las gafas de sol son vintage, regalo de mi amiga M.

Too windy for photos, and it was colder than expected, so not the best idea to wear a blouse and fishnet tights. At least my new coat is quite warm!. Mucho viento para fotos, y además más frío de lo que se esperaba, así que tampoco fue muy buena idea ponerse blusa ligera y medias de rejilla. Al menos el abrigo sí que es calentito. That's what I wore on Friday to the office and I was lucky enough to receive some positive comments from coworkers (who usually don't bat an eyelid, whatever I wear). It's possible that I'm inadvertenly educating them in appreciation of Colour! (or are they simply being nice to me?), who knows!. That's a second hand skirt with a crochet jumper I made. And usual scarf so old it's vintage (so my own home-grown vintage!).
Esto es lo que me puse el viernes para ir a la oficina y tuve la suerte de recibir algunos cumplidos de mis compañeros de trabajo (que normalmente ni se inmutan, lleve lo que lleve). Es posible que sin quererlo los esté acostumbrando a apreciar el color (o es que simplemente son muy amables), quién sabe!. Esta falda es de segunda mano, con un jersey de ganchillo que hice. Y la habitual bufanda, tan antigua que es vintage, así que vintage de mi propia cosecha.

Not So Rainy March

March is behaving quite nicely concerning the weather (in my neck of the woods), so we've had only a few rainy and stormy days (which we hear being called 'cold days' but actually they were not, not even freezing!). But even if we've skipped wintery weather, I'm still feeling that I need to improve my mood which has been a little bit blah. Totally recommend some colour therapy to keep ourselves as joyful as possible, even rebelliously joyful.

Marzo se está portando bien respecto al clima por aquí, y sólo hemos tenido unos días de lluvia y mal tiempo (que he oído llamar 'invernales' pero tampoco para tanto, ni siquiera ha helado!). Pero aunque nos hemos librado del tiempo invernal, todavía se necesita un poquito de empuje, los ánimos van flojos. Muy recomendable un poco de colorterapia para animarse lo más posible, ya que últimamente mantener la alegría es revolucionario!

I wore a comfy ensemble to go to the market on Saturday morning, as we usually walk a lot when running errands. Comfy boots by NorthFace outlet (old) and rainproof trench by Seasalt (old). But comfy doesn't mean boring, so I wore a colourful dress (from Vinted, a year ago) and my crochet cardi-vest made of yarn scraps. Scarf by AlpagaLeMonde (old). Cork bag by FineCorkPortugal.
Me puse algo cómodo para ir al mercado el sábado por la mañana, porque siempre acabo caminando bastante cuando hacemos recados y compras. Botitas cómodas de Northface outlet (antiguas) y abrigo impermeable de Seasalt. Pero que sea cómodo no significa aburrido, así que me puse también un vestido colorido (de Vinted, del año pasado) y esta chaqueta-chaleco de ganchillo que hice de sobras. Bufanda de AlpagaLeMonde, antigua. Bolso de FineCorkPortugal.

I've recently acquired those trousers (by Ulla Popken) at Vinted and payed a (small) fraction of the original price, because of a minor flaw that I repaired in a moment (just a unstitched seam which was pointed by seller). Obviously, I had to wear them immediately and Monday looked like a perfect occasion, as it was even sunny and temperatures were really warm!. I picked the blue colour in the print to match. Turtleneck by LaRedoute (old), sneakers by Elementerre (old) and my blue coat by Ulla Popken, and added a crochet cardi for colour!. Pink beret was retail shopped last year. Scarf by AlpagaLeMonde (old).
Estos pantalones (marca Ulla Popken) los compré hace poco en Vinted, pagando un precio muchísimo más bajo, por culpa de un pequeño desperfecto que arreglé enseguida (un descosido de nada que la vendedora indicó en el anuncio). Claro está que tenía que estrenarlo inmediatamente y el lunes me pareció la ocasión perfecta, hacía sol y muy buen tiempo. Elegí el color azul del estampado para combinar. El cuello vuelto es de LaRedoute, zapatillas Elementerre y mi abrigo azul de Ulla Popken (del año pasado), con una chaquetita de ganchillo para más color. As a positive thought, we're entering my favourite side of Winter, when not-so-warm coats and clothes go out to play. So you're probably getting bored of that orange puff jacket (and that blue coat too) but it's so comfy!. And obviously, Orange Is The New Orange. I wore that massive flower skirt which was acquired second hand at Sunday street market years ago. The orange top was also second hand, but I shortened and fitted it. Como pensamiento positivo, está empezando el lado bueno del invierno en mi opinión, cuando ya empezamos a no llevar ropa de tanto abrigo. Así que creo que váis a hartaros de ver esta chaqueta naranja (y el abriguito azul también), pero es que es comodísima. Y además, el Naranja es el Nuevo Naranja. Me puse esta falda de la flor enorme que compré de segunda mano en el mercadillo del domingo. El top naranja es también de segunda mano, aunque le hice arreglos, lo acorté y ajusté. Cuello vuelto negro de LaRedoute (antiguo). Medias de rayas de Snag. Zapatos Camper. Bolso de una tienda local (marca Lolina).

Whatever the reason, I've been told recently (by three different people) that I look younger than my age, they could not believe I'm fiftyfive. Actually, I don't think about that, as it's something that depends mostly on genetics (totally a lottery, even if you can buy some extra tickets by protecting your skin from the sun and other 'healthy' habits). But there's something all we can do and it's to express ourselves through fashion, build a personal style and enjoy it. Probably it's better to focus on having fun and being creative, instead of focus on looking young. Because all we are going to get old (if lucky!). Not giving advice myself, just commenting.

Faking Spring

Our dissapointingly wintery weather has made me feel quite grumpy, so any mood booster has been welcomed. That included some walks through city parks where some serious bloom was happening. Let's pretend Spring is coming!
Hemos tenido un tiempo bastante invernal, después de hacer bueno, así que se queda una decepcionada y de mal humor. Así que cualquier cosa que anime un poco viene bien, y éso incluye unos paseos por los parques de la ciudad donde se pueden ver árboles en plena floración. Podemos hacernos la ilusión de que se acerca la primavera!.

I've felt like wearing bold colours, which I know it's not everybody's cup of tea. Obviously, I'm not into the 'head-to-toe beige' trend (totally amazing that so many women wear similar beige/brown coats, over similar wide legged jeans!). Anyway, I've received some positive comments and my coworkers don't bat an eyelid whatever I wear. So, please, put on your sunnies as that's one of my bolder outfits ever and totally a mood booster too.
Me apetecía ponerme más colores vivos, que ya sé que no es del gusto de todo el mundo. Claro está que no sigo la actual tendencia del 'beige de pies a cabeza', no estoy a favor, y me alucina que tantísima gente parezca llevar idéntico abrigo beige/marrón con idénticos jeans anchos. Personalmente, he recibido comentarios positivos y además mis compañeros de trabajo ni se inmutan me ponga lo que me ponga. Así que podéis poneros las gafas de sol, porque aquí viene uno de mis conjuntos más llamativos, y que me parece muy vitamínico.

I've worn for the first time that new-to-me black floral dress (Vinted, again!). I shopped a short sleeved one recently and challenged myself to wear it three times in a row (see it here), so I've just repeated a similar outfit which I enjoyed previously. However, that's a darker floral print and I feel it does not fit my actual style. I'll give it a try (more colour!) as it has a lovely drape and fabric and we will see!.

He estrenado este vestido nuevo-para-mí, un vestido de flores sobre fondo negro, de Vinted otra vez. Hace poco que compré otro parecido, de manga corta, y lo saqué en un reto, llevándolo tres veces seguidas de diferentes maneras aquí, así que simplemente repetí las mismas ideas con éste. Pero es un vestido de estampado más oscuro y creo que me va menos con mi estilo. De todos modos, le daré otra oportunidad, con otros colores, porque tiene una caída y una tela muy agradable, y ya veremos.

No outdoors photos on Friday, as it was damn windy again (and I was in a rush!). Sorry for the crap mirror selfies!. I layered a knit pullover under my jacket (second hand both) for warmth and matchiness. Also layered a neckerchief under a wool scarf, for comfort. That black coat was acquired retail years ago (in the middle of the summer!). Tights by Snag. That new brooch was a present from Mr.A.'s Mom!.

El viernes ni intenté sacar fotos fuera, porque hacía mucho viento (y también tenía prisa!). Así que lo siento por las fotos en el espejo del portal!. Llevaba superpuesto un jersey de punto fino bajo la chaqueta (ambos de segunda mano) para el calorcito y porque hacen juego. También superposición de pañuelito al cuello y luego bufanda de lana, muy práctico. El abrigo negro lo compré en una tiendecita local, en pleno verano!. Medias Snag. Mixed February

We had another rainy and cold week and then the weather switched into Spring Mode (which everybody knew was going to end in deception). February usually involves a whole spring-like week that dissolves like a sugar cube when Real Winter Weather strikes back in March. Despite being such a dissapointingly bad weather month, I'm welcoming March, my less favourite month of the year, but I refuse to give up easily!. I've planned plenty of colour therapy, some crafting, reading, walking and even some social life to keep me entertained and fight any possible gloom. Will not surrender!

Después de una semana lluviosa y fría, el tiempo cambió a modo primavera, aunque todos sabíamos que iba a acabar en decepción. Febrero suele traer una semana con un clima primaveral que luego se queda en nada en cuanto todo vuelve a su cauce y el Invierno golpea de nuevo y llega marzo. Pero, a pesar de ser tan traicioneramente invernal, damos la bienvenida a marzo, el mes que menos me gusta del año. Pero no pienso rendirme fácilmente y he planeado un montón de Colores Vivos como terapia y además manualidades, lectura, paseos y vida social, que seguro que me mantienen entretenida contra cualquier asomo de tristura. Hay que resistir!.

I'm taking you back a fortnight ago, when another 'train of storms' was visiting us. But we counted ourselves lucky as other (lovely) visitors stayed at our home, Mr.A's parents stayed with us for ten days (I think we're not particularly disagreeable) and the weather improved last days. And I wore that new-to-me dress for the first time, another one from Vinted (I was lucky to find a batch of dresses). It's a lightweight viscose, so totally not appropriate for the weather, but I layered it and wore some trusty boots, so it was ok for me. Anyway, I'll enjoy it properly in the summertime.
Black turtlenecks by LaRedoute (ages old). Black boots were retail shopped. Polka dot coat was also retail shopped (years ago). Silver pendant was a present ages ago. Earrings were retail shopped. Bag by Lolina (retail shopped). That wool scarf is twenty years old, homegrown vintage!.

Hace quince días teníamos la visita de un 'tren de borrascas'. Pero también hubo otras visitas más agradables, porque vinieron los padres de Mr.A. a nuestra casa y se quedaron una semana larga (se ve que no somos muy antipáticos) y hasta tuvimos buen tiempo al final. Y yo estrené este vestido nuevo-para-mí que compré en Vinted (tuve suerte de encontrar un lote!). Es de viscosa muy ligera, así que no es nada apropiado para el clima invernal, pero yo le puse unas superposiciones y me calcé unas botas, y me pareció cómodo. De todos modos, ya lo disfrutaré apropiadamente cuando sea que llegue el verano.

Same dress for another rainy and cold day, Repeat Offender!. I just added different accessories and my ancient DrMartens boots. So sorry that I only can walk in them for a while as they still tickle my fancy (I considered selling them, but still feel attached to them!). Charity shopped necklace (vintage 80's?). That brooch was a hand-me-down by Mom. And you can see, it was not only rainy but also windy, so a total nightmare to take any photo of my outfit. Anyway, I ran errands in the evening and took a pic of the picturesque centre of the city.
Mismo vestido para otro día de lluvia y viento, Reincidente Total!. Simplemente le cambié los accesorios y me puse las botas DrMartens que tengo hace siglos. Me da pena que ya sólo me las puedo poner si no voy a caminar mucho, porque todavía me gustan y no me veo vendiéndolas. El collar es vintage ochentero. El broche me lo dió mi madre. Y como podéis ver, no sólo llovía, también hacía viento, así que sacarse fotos una misma era dificilísimo!. De todos modos, salí a hacer unos recados por la tarde y tomé una foto de esta calle del centro de la ciudad en la lluvia.

And there's something New to show!. I acquired that plaid skirt from Snag (I had a voucher!) and wore it immediately. As it's a purple plaid, obviously I had to wear it with purple shoes (Camper), and purple tights (Snag too!). I wore a grey cardi which is not particularly cool even if matchy. Next time I'll try a different ensemble!
Y tengo algo Nuevo que mostrar: compré esta falda escocesa de Snag con un bono, y me la puse inmediatamente. Como es de cuadros morados, tenía que llevarla con mis zapatos morados (Camper) y medias moradas (Snag también). También me puse esta chaquetita gris tan poco interesante, pero combinada. La próxima vez intentaré algo diferente.

Back to my usual colourful self and back to orange colour!. Neither new clothes nor a new outfit as I've worn that one many times, totally the kind of ensemble I can throw on quickly and still feel pulled-together. I do love to have some pre-selected options like that one when dressing up, they make a difference!. That dress came from Vinted last year, I wore a long sleeved t-shirt under it. Crochet scarf, Snag tights, Nike sneakers (old) and retail shopped puff jacket. Usual cork bag by FineCorkPortugal.
De vuelta a mi habitual colorido y a mi habitual Color Naranja!. Ni ropa nueva ni conjuntos nuevos, ésto mismo me lo he puesto un montón de veces, porque es el tipo de conjunto que prácticamente te tiras encima y parece muy trabajado y combinado. Es muy buena idea tener unos cuantos conjuntos preseleccionados para cualquier prisa, te arregla el día!. El vestido es de Vinted del año pasado, me puse una camiseta de manga larga debajo. Bufandita de ganchillo, medias Snag, zapatillas Nike (antiguas) y la chaqueta acolchada de una tienda local. El habitual bolso de corcho de FineCorkPortugal.
