This baroque façade behind me is our regional parliament, but this building was a convent until XIX century, then it becomes a tobacco factory. Nowadays, very few parts of the original building remain untouched. After the closing of the tobacco factory (see here) this massive building was divided in two parts, one being the parliament and the other one being the public library (you can read about this here).
The floor tile with a stylized seashell design is a sign which marks the way of St. James through the city, a pilgrims route to Santiago.

Glad you like it and the architecture!
EliminarThanks for your comments!
love a good dose of baroque architecture - even in rain.....
ResponderEliminarbut it is outdone by your fab outfit with purples and that cool waxprint skirt!! sweet brooch!
(thanx for the link)
the custom made dress is another good mood item - crazy mask.
as we have no nice cafés or shops beside of grocery in our tiny town and restaurants only open in summer (and they are bad tourist traps btw), our lockdown (now until late fabruary) is not changing much here. only our occasional trips in the bigger cities for some culture and meetups are long overdue. but we have snow :-D
stay dry and safe! xxxxx
Lovely that you love some baroque architecture and the links on some local history!
EliminarI'm also missing some cultural activities, where we usually met friends, as they were the events I enjoyed the most.
besos
Lovely rich warm colours to brighten up a wet day! I love your skirt and the fab purple jacket. The colourful patterned tunic is lovely and so stylish. The mask was fabulous - what are we going to do with them all when this pandemic is behind us? I can foresee lots of upcycling projects...

Thanks, Veronica!, I'm so happy that you like these colours and the mask!. These masks have a filter inside, that have to be discarded after washing them 100 times, so they don't last forever!

No common sense here either, Monica! At least, we only have the shops open, and no cafés or restaurants.
ResponderEliminarHow stunning is that baroque building your regional parliament is housed in. I love baroque buildings, we have a wonderful baroque church in Antwerp.
And you look stunning too, in your purple rain outfit :-) The print on that wax fabric skirt is fabulous, and I'm swooning over your porcelain doll brooch. I also love your hair with the little plaits! My hair is an absolute disaster these days, with our hairdressers still closed.
I'm loving your collection of masks, too! Stay safe and fabulous, as always, Monica! Besos xxx
I think we're going into lockdown soon, which makes me feel safer.
EliminarGlad that you like the purple colour and the wax fabric skirt (a favourite of mine!). The doll brooch was a souvenir from Valencia, so she wears the typical dress and hairstyle. And it's a handmade piece! (my mom can be so posh!)

I'm swooning at that tobacco factory, what a gorgeous building!
ResponderEliminarYou wear waxed cotton like you own it, I always think of you when I see any.I love those little plaits, I'm singing Mad World in my head and thinking of Tears for Fears!
No bars, no cafes, no non-essential shops, no restaurants, no hairdressers, no gyms, nobody on the street and nearly 2000 have died in the UK today. xxx
So lovely that you think on me when you see some wax fabric (I'm a huge fan!). And so lovely that you remember Tears for Fears, mwhaha, and one of my favourite songs when a teenager. I started to grow my plaits when I was 17 and cut my hair short, so they have been with me for a long long time.
EliminarWe're going into lockdown soon, but can't understand why they've waited so much!
besos
We are still in lockdown over here - only essential shops (groceries, drug stores, pet foods) are open, no restaurants except for delivery. Our case numbers are dropping, but not enough to lift the lockdown. I don't even know what day it is anymore. I love the waxed cotton fabric skirt - it's nice to see that some people are making the effort to dress up. You always look great!
ResponderEliminarI try to dress up everyday, even if I just go out to buy some food and people don't notice it, because they only see my coat, hat and mask!. But dressing up even for a short while makes me feel Better. Most of the time I'm at home, and wearing a housecoat, which is ok for me too.

What a lovely building. I'm always excited to see historic architecture. I'm sorry the new year isn't bringing new better behaviour from people. I don't know what it takes to get through to some people. Anyway, you're looking fab as always and wearing a very lovely brooch. Have a good, safe, week.
ResponderEliminarAll your colour is so wonderful, Monica - it's a balm to my soul. I limit my outings and my interactions with people - it makes me anxious to see other people, especially in big groups. Your brooch reminds me a bit of a suffragist!
ResponderEliminarTake care of yourself, my dear!
Staying safe, and staying fabulous.
ResponderEliminarIt's lovely to see that beautiful building still in use.
