summer shirts

Even if I love my dresses, I also want to make the most of my whole wardrobe. So I've been playing with some shirts and blouses to create two-piece outfits. Also playing with colour combos which I always enjoy, orange and purple being a new favourite one!

Many people are out of the town for holidays (August!), which means that our apéro was particularly quiet on Saturday morning.

- skirt, my own homegrown vintage (I have it since my teens) / falda de mi propia cosecha vintage, la tengo desde los 17 años
- sandals, Chiruca outlet / sandalias
- orange trench, La Redoute (old) / gabardina naranja
- straw bag, Etsy (old) / bolso de paja
This is another shirt that I bought second hand at the Sunday street market, and it was also (slightly) shortened. Most of these shirts have fitting issues, particularly because of their length. I think they're made to be worn with trousers or jeans, but looking too long over skirts. I've tried to tuck these shirts in, but this didn't worked on my short waisted silhouette. Same for belts, particularly wide belts which I like the most. Anyway, I'll wear whatever I like and will try some belts too.

- trousers, retail (old) / pantalón, de tienda local
- sandals, Chiruca outlet / sandalias
- denim jacket, second hand, Asos Marketplace boutique Bich / chaqueta vaquera, de segunda mano, Asos Marketplace boutique Bich

Have a fabulous (and safe) week!

  1. Two fantastic outfits! I know what you mean, dresses are so easy to wear and t can be a real challenge to dress in separates but so rewarding when you create a fabukpus outfit from much-loved pieces!
The pretty hippy skirt looks wonderful purple shirt and coral coat, a explosion in a jewel box! The trousers are absolutely wonderful on you and I want to steal that bag! xxx

  2. I love how you combined red and purple tones in your first outfit. The purple patched maxi skirt is absolutely beautiful and the shirt and the jacket are lovely as well.
I also like your blue styling. Lovely blue pants and shirt. Those blue sandals are so lovely. The straw bag is very pretty.
    Have a nice day.

  3. Orange and purple is a combination I have loved for years - they go so well together, don't they? I love your whole look, and love the glimpse of that street!

Your aqua trousers are fantastic! You look so tall in this look, and I suspect it's due to the shortened shirt, which moves your waist higher, giving you a long silhouette. Ah, the challenges of unique bodies in "standard" sized clothes! It's a good thing you sew!

  4. Your purple and orange outfit is stunning, Monica! I'm loving the skirt and your necklace is delightful too. How wonderful to have a quiet town at your disposal, so that you can have your apéro in peace.
I'm fully agreeing with Sheila that the second outfit is making you look particularly tall. The aqua trousers are such a wonderful shape too.
I'm the same as you, trying to make the most of my wardrobe by wearing separates more, rather than dresses. I took nothing but separates on our little break and the lady of the B&B, where we stayed many times before, actually asked what happened to my dresses ;-) Besos xxx

  5. Lovely outfits! Purple and orange are fab together. I love your denim blazer; especially the paisley pattern in it and the dip die effect - gorgeous! Loving the blue sandals matching the fab trousers and the shirt is lovely. It's good you're able to shorten your shirts; I find the 'older style/fashion' shirt/blouse the more likely it is to be shorter in length but that doesn't always follow!

It must be nice to have fewer tourists and have your apero in peace!

  6. A lovely parade of colours in this post. I've been wearing jumpsuits all summer but now that I am going to be back in the office I will be wearing my separates more often.

  7. Orange and purple is one of my favourite colour combinations too Monica! I love that wonderful tiered skirt and think it's great that you kept it from your teens - how clever of you. The turquoise trousers look soooo comfortable!

  8. I rely on dresses as well. It becomes habit, I suppose. Both of these outfits are beautiful though, and a reminder to try out different things.

  9. the purple and orange combo is fab and very summery - but my heart belongs to the turquois/blue suit!!
for the turquois colour of cause and for the dip-dyied jacked which is very cool - same for the cut of the trousers - wow.
i´m not actually tiny - but most modern tops are far to long for me too - especiall as i do wear all shirts and trousers at my natural waist..... guess they are made for the wear with the dreaded jeggings ;-D .....often take the scissors to them.....
