Despite not always having the best conditions, I still try to take photos of my outfits, making the most of every moment and keeping it Real. Sometimes I have to take my pictures by myself, using my camera timer, or have to take (crap) mirror selfies, which is not the best quality photo ever. But I think that Real Life is about managing to create something using whatever stuff you have on hand and express yourself.
Finally I have achieved my last sewing project on this skirt. It was a plain skirt (as you can see here) and I embellished it adding some strips made of fabrics from my stash. I was looking for some kind of 'oceanic' inspiration so picked all the blue and green shades, and even used bleach to create waves on some pieces of fabric.
I was looking forward to wear this 80's skirt that I recently acquired at Sunday street market. Actually, everything was thrifted, except sandals by Chiruca outlet and earrings (retail, local business). I have a weakness for 80's prints, the bolder the better. Not everybody's cup of tea, I know.
And that's another 80's skirt with some modern accessorizing. I've found some interesting second hand skirts at street markets, probably because I'm the only one who appreciate them. I've realized that, concerning clothes, unconventional tastes usually involve more advantages than disadvantages.
New sandals by Yokono, jacket by local designer Eme and necklace by a local artisan.
This black skirt has been in my wardrobe for more than a decade and felt quite boring lately, even if I still like its shape. So I took it to a local designer workshop to be jazzed up!. The beautiful yellow design was created by Ramonak Workshop.
Striped t-shirt by C&A, yellow cardi from eBay (old), sandals by Yokono.
This is what I wore on Saturday morning to go shopping groceries. My trusty ten years old striped dress and a quite old bolero jacket. Mini straw basket from Etsy and old sandals by Chiruca (outlet).
Hope you're having a fabulous week!
What a colour fest you've gathered together here Monica! My favourite has to be the sea themed skirt - I totally love it! I've had to take my own photos this week using my camera and timer too - not ideal, but at least it does keep it real as you say. Have a lovely week x
ResponderEliminarWhat fab outfits, Monica! I love the last one in particular and the first with the lovely dip dyed blazer. Your accessories are wonderful and beautifully co-ordinated. I think the print on the first 80s skirt was amazing; I would have snapped that up, too.
ResponderEliminarI'm like you and try to show what I wear on a day to day basis and keep it real.
Hope you have a great weekend,
xxx
I'm all about keeping it real, too! I love all your outfits, your colour combinations are always inspiring! xxx
ResponderEliminarYes to keeping it real!
ResponderEliminarWhat a wonderful gathering of colourful Summer outfits, Monica!
Your embellished maxi skirt is a delight, I'm loving the bleached waves in particular.
The 80s skirts are fab too, I especially love the pattern and colours of the first one.
Your jazzed up black skirt is a true work of art, and I totally love the outfit you created around them.
Finally, the striped maxi with the bolero is a stunner, and I can't believe how well your necklace matches teh colours of your dress! Besos xxx
Keeping it real is always a good thing. I love the makeover on your black skirt. Anything but boring!
ResponderEliminarHooray for keeping it real - and I totally get it, as my pics are all done with a timer, all by myself.
ResponderEliminarFabulous array of gorgeousness here, my dear friend! Your embellished skirt is stunning, and looks awesome with that top. I'm also a fan of 80s patterns, and have also learned that the "crazy stuff" that I gravitate towards will end up in the clearance section of my favourite thrift/consignment shops - normal people have such boring taste, lol.
I LOVE your Yokono sandals - they are so much fun! I didn't realize at first that the black skirt was plain black originally - "how can she not love that decoration on it?" I thought! What a fantastic way to make a basic way more interesting. Your outfit with it is stellar - I would wear every piece!
Those "oldie but goodie" dresses are so useful, especially when you want to be utterly comfy but also snazzy! A great round-up here!
That blue skirt looks so cool now - the colours work so well together. And the customised black skirt is brilliant too.
