Spring & DiY

The weather was incredibly warm last week, so I went out bare legged most evenings and even did the first seasonal wardrobe switch. Nothing really dramatic. I just stored the winter dresses, knits and some massive scarves. And brought back some short sleeved blouses and some maxi skirts.
It was nice to rediscover my 'oceanic waves' skirt: it was a (second hand) plain skirt embellished with stripes of fabric from my stash. A really simple project that took me a few days. On the other hand, that waistcoat-thing took me ages. Actually I started to crochet it years ago (November 2020) and totally forgot it in a corner, until recently. I think the reason I gave up was a confusing pattern that bothered me, so this time I used the pattern as an inspiration instead of following it. Actually, it worked and I recovered my crochet mojo. I felt so enthusiastic than even started another crochet pattern, shopped at Katie Jones. I was introduced to her colourful style by this post in Vintage Vixen's blog (thanks, Vix!).

El tiempo ha sido increíblemente bueno en la última semana, así que ya me he quitado las medias e incluso he hecho el primer cambio de armario de la temporada. Nada muy dramático, sólo guardé los vestidos de invierno, el punto gordo y bufandas, y traje de vuelta al armario algunas blusas de manga corta y las faldas largas de algodón.
Me ha gustado volver a ver esta falda 'oceánica', que fue en su origen una falda lisa de segunda mano, a la que le cosí unas tiras de telas (sobrantes que tenía por ahí) de tonos azulados. Un proyecto muy sencillo que me llevó unos días. No como este otro proyecto, el chaleco de ganchillo que me llevó siglos. Empecé en realidad hace años (Nov 2020) y lo dejé olvidado en un rincón hasta hace poco. Creo que lo dejé porque el patrón era confuso y me estaba rayando, así que esta vez no lo seguí, sólo me sirvió de inspiración. Y me funcionó, así que ya recobré el gusto por el ganchillo. Tanto me he entusiasmado que he empezado una cosita con un patrón comprado en Katie Jones (la descubrí en el blog de Vintage Vixen y estoy muy agradecida!)

I wore some lightweight trousers on Tuesday, but also a coat. The mornings are usually chilly!. That black coat was retail shopped months ago (in the middle of a heatwave!). Trousers were a present by a friend. Tshirt by CandA (old). Second hand dress worn as a summer-coat. Sneakers by Adidas (outlet).

Me puse un pantalón ligero el martes, pero también un abrigo. Las mañanas siguen siendo frescas. Este abrigo negro lo compré en una tiendecita hace meses (en plena ola de calor!). Another DiY piece, that also came from the Sunday street market. That shirt was shreded and then resewed, adding some stripes of a different fabric. I still don't know wtf motivated me to shop that shirt, which is completely not my style: Probably I was considering to use some bleach or dying it, but shredding it was destructive enough to please my interior punklady.
However, the distressed jeans are still not my cup of tea, I don't feel comfortable in them, so they're now in the donation bag. I hope they'll find a better home.

Otro proyecto que hice usando una prenda de segunda mano del mercadillo. Esta camisa la corté en tiras y luego la volví a coser entretejiendo otras tiras de tela. Todavía no sé qué %@# me motivó a comprar una camisa que no es nada de mi estilo. Seguramente estaría pensando en echarle lejía o tinte, pero hacerla tiras es también bastante destructivo como para satisfacer a mi punki interior. Sin embargo, los vaqueros desgastados siguen sin gustarme, no son cómodos en absoluto, así que se van a la bolsa de las donaciones y espero que encuentren un buen hogar.
