New & Better Than New

As work was hectic last weeks (and will be probably more hectic in the summertime) it's becoming difficult to find the time even to visit your blogs or write anything!. Totally in a fuzzy brain time these days (more than usual!) due to spending too much time in the computer. I've been told that this can be also another symptom of the menopause (so many delightful symptoms, particularly the bloating and putting weight on, argh!). Whatever the brain fog, I'm trying to keep myself focused and not give up blogging!

I recently shopped this top at a local designer's shop called Eme, as I fell in love with that beautiful cotton fabric. I don't buy New frequently but, when I do, I try to pick something to last a long time (and to make me feel particularly happy). Double check!.
My red jacket was a second hand find at Sunday street market. Trousers were a retail purchase (last year). Shoes by Camper. Usual cork bag by Fine Cork Portugal. Charity shopped necklace. Self-made brooch (epoxy resin, beads).

I wore same trousers next day, but picked darker hues to match my Seasalt jacket (and the cloudy and rainy day). That blouse is my Better Than New item. I was looking for some blouses to go with trousers, and decided to go shopping to my own wardrobe. Et voilá!, I noticed that I already had those blouses in my wardrobe, only that they were really tunics waiting to be shortened!. Small project, big impact. I've had that tunic for ages (Jul2010), and didn't wear it frequently last years (style evolves!), so it's so much better to have a blouse now!.

Me explico.
Second hand jeans from Sunday street market. Revamped second hand shirt (ragged it and sewed some stripes of a different fabric, for no particular reason). Sneakers by Adidas outlet. Red coat by LaRedoute. Necklace by a local artisan.

Abrigo rojo LaRedoute. Collar de una artesana local.
My 'bold pastels' pullover (thanks for that name, dear Beate) is becoming a favourite of mine. I'd wear it almost everyday, weather permitting (I've considered some layering for winter months!). The pink trousers are twins of those turquoise-aqua ones I wore previously (yes, I shopped two pairs, they're really comfortable!). Second hand denim jacket (80's vibe!). Charity shopped necklace. Sneakers by Adidas outlet.

Zapatillas Adidas outlet.
Have a fabulous week!

  1. The new blouse is lovely. Anything with sea birds would be irresistible for me. The menopause can be miserable. It will pass, eventually even if it feels never ending when you're in it.

  2. What an inspired idea to give your tunic the chop - discovering it in your wardrobe and being able to customise it to suit your evolved style really is Better Than New. I love the woven blouse and your bold pastels crochet top, too. The quirky print on your new top is fabulous and I'm drooling over those Camper shoes - too cool for school! A fabulous round up of outfits for what seems to be a tricky Spring weather-wise!
I'm sorry you're having menopausal issues but glad that it's now acceptable that we can talk about these things. A woman in the passport queue was having a hot flush and asked how I coped with them, I told her that I seem to have escaped them (lucky me!) but the lady behind me overheard and gave her a few tips - hooray for the fifty and over sisterhood!
I love your cityscape photo and am looking forward to a pint of ice cold lager in a couple of hours when I'm off to meet some mates in Spoons! Cheers! xxx

  3. I'm totally getting the brain fog, and yes, it could very well be a symptom of the menopause. I've been finding it hard to focus, but thankfully it seems to be getting better. It would be a sad day if you gave up blogging, by the way!
Your new blouse is absolutely delightful, and so is your deconstructed shirt and the bold pastels jumper. I'm not surprised you shopped two pairs of those trousers. They look super comfortable and both colours are gorgeous.
You did a great job giving that tunic the chop, something I've been known to do as well. I'm sure you'll get lots of wear out of it now!
Have a great week! Besos xxx

  5. Sorry to hear you've been so busy at work; hopefully things will calm down soon...Fabulous new top and I loved your customised shirt especially. As for the crochet jumper it's truly fabulous and I can see why you'd want to wear it everyday. I've never though of cutting down a tunic but what a good idea; I'm off to cast a critical eye over my tunics and see if any might be better as tops...

  6. That made-over blouse is a super piece of customisation. And your new top definitely looks like one that'll be loved for a long time.

I'm on HRT for menopause - I didn't get brain fog or hot flushes, but I did have really severe negative mood swings before a period, and I wasn't sleeping. As you say - so many symptoms! I hope the brain fog eases up soon.
