Still Standing

Probably you've heard about the unseasonably hot weather we're having in Spain, crop losses, drought, lots of problems. Both nature and people feel stressed, it feels like jumping into summer weather without having a real springtime. I miss my walks, as I had to avoid outdoor activities in the evenings, because of the allergies inducing conditions (there's a blizzard of poplar tree pollen, literally). Not good news!.

This was my 'repeat offender' last week, a pair of pink trousers I wore two days in a row. First day I wore my pink trousers (a retail purchase) and my multicoloured crochet cardi both morning and evening, but changed my long sleeved blouse for a short one (both second hand). Also changed sneakers (Reebok outlet, old) for a pair of sandals (Chiruca outlet) and my cork bag for a summery straw bag. Usually Spring means that one has to switch seasons in one day! (sometimes twice in one day!)
Next day, I wore my pink trousers in a different colour combo. The kimono-like thing was made of some second hand scarves. Acqua-turquoise shirt was also a second hand purchase. Shoes by Allrounders (outlet), old.

These strangely-shaped trousers are becoming a fav piece, they jazz-up my mood! (and they do not need ironing!). I wore a similar outfit a month ago, so there's nothing new here!. Everything except sandals (by Yokono) was acquired second hand.

Finally, something new!. I visited my parents last weekend, making the most of Monday being a holiday bank. And Mom gave me this tunic-dress she had shopped for herself and then considered it was not suitable for her style (oversized and graphic patterned items are not everybody's cup of tea!). Glad she thought these colours would fancy me!. I'll make full use of it, even if not in the summertime, longsleeved as it is!. I'm going to store it until Autumn, but couldn't help but wear it at least once right now!

Finalmente, algo nuevo!.

Tunic dress by Udalaitz (local business!), leggings LaRedoute (old), maryjanes by El Naturalista (ancient), trench by Seasalt.

Vestido-túnica de Udalaitz (tienda local), leggings de LaRedoute y merceditas El Naturalista (antigüitos), gabardina de Seasalt.
I'm still working on my last crochet project, using granny squares in a geometric design.
Have a fab week!

  1. Spain's exceptional weather has been in the news this week whilst the UK has the worst spring in 70 years. I hope you're managing to cope with your allergies, hay fever is horrid.
You look amazing, you could wear that crochet coat every day and I'd not tire of it. I love the shape of those blue trousers on you and the 70s vibe tunic from the local-to-you business absolutely rocks.
I'm madly in love with your new crochet project. xxx

    1. Glad you like that crochet coat, it was really lovely to crochet (no fuss!) and I enjoyed to work with so many colours!. I'll have something more to show soon, as I've been bitten by the crochet bug!

  2. If only we could swap some of our rain to some of your sunshine an high temperatures to even things out ... I definitely do not envy you, particularly with your allergies and having to forego your evening walks! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that you'll get some rain and cooler temperatures soon!
I'm glad to see the weather hasn't affected your way of dressing, so that we can enjoy your colourful and quirky outfits as usual. The crochet cardi is a work of art and remains an absolute favourite. I'm also loving those pink trousers and the ginormous ones, and you're definitely rocking that geometrically patterned tunic you got from your Mum! Intrigued by your new crochet project! Besos xxx

    1. It's amazing how we can take rain for granted and never think about it until it's scarce. I'd have some of your rain joyfully!
Glad that you like my crochet cardi and that new tunic!.

  3. sounds like the "april summers" we had the last 3 years.... poor monica and poor spain. climate change. will someone (except us) wake up? no.
thankfully - locally do we have a "real spring" this year: temps between 0° - 20°C - and showers! forest and garden are much more green then in the last 5 years...... (not enough rain to fill the natural reservoirs though....)
wonderful and very cool chrochet cardigan!! your a genius with a chrochet hook! and your newest project looks very promising - gorgeous fresh colors and love the graphic pattern.
making a kimono from old scarves! fab!! chic outfit too. and of cause the very voluminous trousers - so cool.
your mum has an excellent taste in tunics!

    1. I still miss the 'real spring' we had during lockdown (I even thought that the lack of pollution has something to do!) but we have had poor rains since then. Unseasonably hot temperatures are becoming the 'new normal' and most people get used to them without questioning it.
Thanks for your compliments, I'm not really a crochet genius, just reading a pattern and mixing some colours!
That kimono made of scarves is one of the easiest sewing projects ever!
Glad you like my Mom's taste!, I think she's stylish even if we don't agree about fashion!
      besos
