Autumn & Bold

We have had a summery weather week which changed abruptly into an autumnal weather during the weekend. So totally normal weather after some unseasonably warm days (weeks, actually). I still wore some summery items, even if I also wrapped myself in shawls and cardis in the chilly mornings. Layering is key for comfort these days but it can be tricky. I failed miserably some days (freezed in short sleeves or sweated under a thick cloth). But I was comfortable most of the time, even if had to layer up and down through the day.

Hemos tenido un tiempo de lo más veraniego, que cambió de golpe a tiempo otoñal en el fin de semana. Así que lo que tenemos es tiempo normal, después de un calor que no correspondía a la época del año durante días, semanas incluso. Por lo que me puse ropa de verano, aunque también me abrigué con chales y chaquetas de punto por las mañanas, que son cada vez más frescas. Llevar varias capas es lo que ayuda a la comodidad en esta época de entretiempo, pero a veces se falla, y una se congela en manga corta o se sofoca con una camiseta gorda. Menos mal que la mayoría de veces la superposición funciona y una está cómoda a lo largo del día, aunque sea quitando y poniendo capas todo el rato.

I wore a massive wool shawl over a beach dress and a short sleeved t-shirt, it was my strategy to avoid to wear a cardi. I've noticed that everything was shopped retail!, so strange!. Even if those clothes were acquired New, they've been in my wardrobe for years (so we can consider they're 'in the process of becoming vintage').
It was still a sunny day on Monday, even 30ºC, but only 13ºC when I went to work.

Me puse este chal enorme sobre un vestido de playa y una camiseta de manga corta, como estrategia para no tener que ponerme chaqueta. Esta vez toda mi ropa se compró en tiendas (locales), lo que se vuelve raro, suelo incluir prendas de segunda mano siempre. Aunque las haya comprado nuevas, han estado en mi armario años y años, así que están "camino de volverse vintage".

Back to usual mix of old and pre-loved clothes, I wore some second hand jeans and second hand blouse on Tuesday (both came from usual stalls at Sunday street market), and a short sleeved cardi by LaRedoute (ages ago). My crochet coat is becoming a favourite piece to add more colour into any outfit. Sneakers by Adidas (old). Cork bag by Fine Cork Portugal (years old) has come to play, replacing my summery straw bags.

De vuelta a la habitual mezcla de ropa antigüita y recuperada, los pantalones y la blusa son de segunda mano, ambos de los puestos del mercadillo del domingo, y la chaquetita de segunda mano es de LaRedoute de hace siglos. El abrigo de ganchillo se está convirtiendo en pieza esencial para añadirle (más) color a mi vida. Zapatillas de Adidas. Bolso de corcho de Fine Cork Portugal (de hace años) que viene a sustituir a mis bolsos de paja del verano.

More colour to cheer up the day in the form of my Joyful Tunic, totally enhanced by that colourful crochet coat. It's amazing how that coat is making friends into my wardrobe.

Más color para animar el día en forma de mi túnica súperalegre, que va estupendamente con el colorido del abrigo de ganchillo. Está claro que este abrigo está encajando estupendamente en mi armario.

Joyful tunic was shopped retail, years ago (label Antiqa Sartoria). Red trousers shopped at a clearance sale. Sneakers by Adidas. Scarf was a present by Mom.
La túnica vino de una tienda local hace años (marca Antiqa Sartoria). Pantalón rojo de una liquidación-outlet. Zapatillas Adidas. Pañuelo, un regalo de mi madre.

I kept on wrapping myself in that massive shawl, which is really comfy, and wore a crochet cardi too. Trousers were shopped retail, black blouse was a second hand find. Sneakers by Adidas (last year).

Seguí envolviéndome en ese chal enorme, que es tan cómodo, esta vez sobre una chaqueta de ganchillo. Pantalón de una tienda local, blusa negra de segunda mano. Zapatillas Adidas, del año pasado.

I went for darker colours next day but kept a summery vibe wearing cropped jeans. Both fuchsia jeans and beach tunic came from Sunday street market (second hand), totally matchy, even if shopped months distance. I'm keeping this tunic in my wardrobe the whole year long, but wear it more frequently in the winter, as it layers nicely (and I like its 'gothic hawaiian' vibe).

Al día siguiente elegí unos colores más oscuros pero con un toque veraniego con el pantalón corto. Tanto los jeans fucsia como la túnica playera son de segunda mano, del mercadillo del domingo, y conjuntan perfectamente aunque fueron comprados con meses de diferencia. Esta túnica la dejo en el armario todo el año, aunque me la pongo más en invierno, sirve genial para superponerse y da un toque de gótico hawaiano que me hace gracia.

We payed a visit to the second hand books fair, but anything tickled our fancy. The weather was really warm even if windy, so I added a trench over my crochet pullover. It was a comfy outfit for a walk and then having our usual apéro on Saturday morning. Trench by LaRedoute (old), trousers shopped retail, sneakers by Adidas.

Hicimos una visita a la feria del libro usado, pero nada nos llamó la atención. El tiempo era muy bueno, aunque hacía viento, así que me puse una gabardina ligera sobre el jerséy de ganchillo. Todo muy cómodo para salir a dar una vuelta y tomar el habitual vermú el sábado por la mañana. Gabardina de LaRedoute, pantalón de tienda local, zapatillas Adidas.

Black & Blues

Whatever the reason, I wore a lot of black and blue in my first week at work. Probably I was feeling the urge to change my summery clothes for darker colours, even if autumnal weather was still absent. I've worn sandals almost everyday until the 12th of October, which is a bank holiday (National Day) and it usually marks the start of colder temperatures (and start of wearing a coat). However we've had some summery weather well into October this year!.

No sé porqué razón me he puesto tanto negro y azul en la primera semana de trabajo después de las vacaciones. Supongo que tenía ganas de cambiar la ropa de verano por algo más oscuro, aunque el otoño sigue sin llegar. Me he estado poniendo sandalias casi cada día hasta el 12 de octubre (que además de ser fiesta, suele marcar el comienzo del frío y de la temporada de llevar abrigo). Pero este año hemos tenido tiempo veraniego hasta entrado octubre.

I stored my 'Heatwave Capsule' after coming back from our holidays (not the best idea, as we still had 30ºC). Then I had to unpack a bag of clothes (one in, one out). So the bag labelled as 'Entretiempo' (shoulder season) was brought into my wardrobe, lots of fav clothes included these Massive Trousers I found at a second hand stall last year. They're actually perfect for the 'summery but not so summery' weather and quite versatile, even if I tend to wear them always with black and geometric prints. And they're really comfy!.
Jacket was another second hand find, striped t-shirt by CandA, sneakers by Adidas outlet (old). Usual straw bag shopped years ago at Etsy.

Guardé mi ropa de Verano-OlaDeCalor después de llegar de las vacaciones, aunque no fue muy buena idea porque seguía haciendo 30ªC. Así que tenía que sacar una de las bolsas de ropa almacenadas para hacer sitio, y saqué la bolsa con la etiqueta 'entretiempo' al armario. Mucha ropa que me gusta, incluídos estos pantalones tan enormes y diferentes, que compré de segunda mano el año pasado. Son perfectos para esta época del año del tiempo bueno pero-no-tan-bueno, y son muy versátiles, aunque siempre acabo llevándolos con negro o estampados gráficos. Y además, son comodísimos.
La chaqueta también es de segunda mano, camiseta de rayas del CandA, zapatillas de Adidas outlet. El habitual bolso de paja de Etsy, de hace años.

I wore my linen pants (recently shopped at PuntRoma) for a walk in the evening, with a second hand top and my trusty Chiruca sandals. I'm a huge fan of this kind of sandals and buy them usually at a local outlet-shop, a small business near the market.

Estos pantalones de lino (reciente adquisición, del PuntRoma) me los puse para salir por la tarde, con una camiseta de segunda mano y mis sandalias de Chiruca tan cómodas. Soy muy aficionada a este tipo de sandalia y suelo comprarlas en una tienda outlet pequeña junto al mercado, un negocio local. El bolso cruzado es de Fine Cork Portugal. Collar de una tienda solidaria.

Repeat offender as I am, I had to wear those trousers again. I was not feeling my best, I had a cold and felt tired because of all the coughing etc, so wrapped myself in some comfy clothes and went to work (but kept the distance with coworkers and opened the windows even if I had tested negative for covid). Not so usual that I pick a monochromatic style, but I wore lots of blue, including that massive shirt recently acquired (second hand) and a blue striped t-shirt (?).

Reincidente como es una, tenía que ponerme estos pantalones otra vez. No estaba en mi mejor momento, tenía un catarro tremendo y estaba muy cansada de tanto toser etc, así que me eché encima ropa de lo más cómodo y fuí al trabajo como siempre, aunque mantuve la distancia y la ventana abierta (aunque ya había dado negativo en covid). No suelo ir en estilo monocromático, pero esta vez me puse montones de azul, incluyendo esta camisa enorme que me compré de segunda mano y camiseta de rayas azules también.

The mornings were chillier, so here it came my crochet coat to the rescue. These are some really comfy trousers too, shopped at a local shop when on vacation (two years ago!). Top by Eme. Scarf was charity shopped. Sneakers by Adidas. I was still not feeling my best, but colours and comfy clothes helped to manage it.

Las mañanas son más frías, así que toca recurrir al abrigo de ganchillo. Estos pantalones también son comodísimos, los compré en una tiendecita cuando estaba de vacaciones hace dos años. El top es de Eme. Pañuelo de tienda solidaria. Zapatillas Adidas. Todavía no estaba muy bien, pero los colores y la ropa cómoda siempre ayudan.

I took some crappy mirror-selfies, only to show my 80's vibe outfit, particularly those sleeves. Totally 'Back To The Future' style. Everything came from second hand stalls. Vintage brooch was shopped at a bric-a-brac shop. Sneakers by Adidas outlet, old.

Me tomé unas fotos en el espejo (malísimas) sólo por mostrar este estilo ochentero, sobre todo las mangas. Totalmente de Regreso Al Futuro. Toda la ropa es de segunda mano. El broche vintage lo compré en un puesto de anticuario. Zapatillas de Adidas outlet, antigüitas.

Back to Summer

I'm back to my usual routine and back to work too (no complaining, that's good news!), and missing the fabulous Algarve. However I'm having no chance to miss the sunshine because we're having summery temperatures here too (only there's no beach to go). My first week at work and we've reached 30ºC everyday, even if I had to wear a cardi in the chilly mornings.
Obviously, I had to take some photos with the bouganvilleas (a tradition!), which are so colourful and beautiful and Massive!. But didn't take a photo of the food or the lovely atmosphere, which are some of the best parts. I've always loved the food, which is one of the most delightful and unpretentious food I've ever tasted. Even if the taverns are dissapearing in favour of oriental buffet bars or gastro pubs (the sign of times), there are still plenty of them the moment you move away from the touristic spots.

De vuelta a las rutinas habituales y también de vuelta al trabajo (no me quejo, es algo bueno) y echando de menos el Algarve. Lo que no he tenido ocasión de echar de menos es el clima soleado, porque estamos teniendo un tiempo veraniego aquí también, sólo que sin playa. Mi primera semana en el trabajo y hemos tenido temperaturas de más de 30 todos los días, aunque por la mañana haga fresquete y tenga que ponerme una chaqueta.
Evidentemente había que sacarse foto con las buganvillas, que son tan coloridas y bonitas y Enormes!. Pero no tomé ni una foto de la comida ni del ambiente tan tranquilo y agradable, que son también de lo mejor. Siempre me encantó la comida, que es de lo más estupenda y sin pretensiones. Aunque muchas tabernas de las de toda la vida están desapareciendo (y en su lugar surgen bufés orientales o gastrobares), todavía quedan unas cuantas en cuanto te alejas de los lugares turísticos.

This is my fav beach dress, that I wore almost everyday. It was made from a second hand dress, and I love its massiveness and lightweight viscose fabric. I made the most of my luggage and wore everything, but I'm taking notes to improve my packing. I don't need so many dresses (four dresses are more than enough) when I actually live in my beach gear. On the other hand, it's ok to put three bikininis in my case. And my robe/dress has been really useful, perfect to stay near the pool, reading a book (one of my so stressful activities!).

Este es mi vestido de playa favorito, que me he puesto casi cada día. Está hecho de un vestido, de segunda mano, y me encanta que sea tan enorme y la tela es ligerísima de viscosa. He aprovechado bien mi equipaje y me puse todo lo que llevé, pero he tomado nota para mejorar. No me hacen falta tantos vestidos (cuatro son más que suficientes), porque lo que llevo puesto más rato es la ropa de playa. Por otro lado, está bien llevar tres bikinis. Y el vestido/bata que llevé ha sido aprovechadísimo, perfecto para andar por casa o estar junto a la piscina leyendo (una de mis frenéticas actividades!)
