Autumn & Walks

The weather was still quite windy but not particularly cold, so we made the most of it and joined my parents for a weekend in Vitoria which is merely one hour distance (some photos below!). We also went for some walks as the landscapes are amazing, and we had only a few showers so no muddy paths!. I know that many people feel sad as soon as days are shorter and winter rears its ugly head. Totally understand them. But I really like our warm and colourful Autumn!

El tiempo estaba bastante revuelto, pero no especialmente frío, así que decidimos aprovechar y visitar a mis padres el fin de semana en Vitoria, que está a hora y cuarto de distancia (fotos más abajo). También hemos salido a pasear y ver los paisajes tan asombrosos, y además no tuvimos más que unos pocos chaparrones, así que ni siquiera se embarraron los senderos. Ya sé que hay mucha gente que se entristece tan pronto los días se acortan y asoma el invierno. Y los entiendo. Pero es que me encanta el otoño que tenemos aquí, tan templado y con tanto colorido.

I gave a test voyage to that new crochet cardi, a recent project still unfinished as I have to add some pockets (free pattern by Katie Jones here). It's a warm cardi, as I used wool instead of the recommended polyester yarn.
Trousers were shopped retail years ago. Second hand blouse (by Zara) shortened and fitted by me. Rainjacket by Seasalt. Usual cork bag by Fine Cork Portugal. Massive necklace by a local artisan.

Me he puesto esta nueva chaqueta de ganchillo a modo de prueba, es un proyecto que aún no está acabado, le faltan los bolsillos (el patrón es de aquí). Es muy calentita, ya que usé lana en vez del poliéster que recomendaban.

This is one of my 'last resource' outfits when it's rainy and I don't feel inspired. I've worn it many times!. Obviously, I picked a waterproof coat (by Seasalt) and shoes (Chiruca). Then some comfy-as-pyjama trousers acquired at a clearance sale (years ago) and a striped pullover by PuntRoma(old). Usual cork bag by Fine Cork Portugal. Scarf was shopped retail (many) years ago.

Esta combinación ya la he sacado muchas veces, es algo a lo que recurrir cuando llueve y no me siento muy inspirada. Claro está, hay que elegir un abrigo impermeable (Seasalt) y zapatos también (Chiruca). Luego unos pantalones como de pijama, que son de una liquidación, de hace años, y un jersey de PuntRoma (antiguo). El habitual bolso de corcho de Fine Cork Portugal. Pañuelo de una tiendecita, hace muchos años.

Sorry if you're tired of that geometric crochet pullover and both trousers I usually wear with. But it's such a comfy outfit, perfect for walks or travels. So I picked them again for our weekend in Vitoria, as the weather forecast looked promising. And indeed it was!. I'm happy we made the most of the good weather: lots of walks and some pintxos too at the local terraces.

Lo siento si estáis aburridas de este jersey geométrico de ganchillo y los dos pantalones con los que me lo suelo poner. Pero es que es comodísimo, perfecto para caminar, excursiones o viajes. Así que los elegí de nuevo para nuestro fin de semana fuera, ya que el tiempo parecía que iba a ser bueno. Y fue buenísimo. Me alegro mucho de haber aprovechado este buen tiempo: muchos paseos y también unos pintxos en las terrazas!

I took this photo from our balcony in the early morning, before going to work, some days ago. But now it's dark when I go to work, no more colourful sunrises meanwhile I sip my coffe (at least for some months!).

Esta foto la saqué bien pronto por la mañana, antes de ir a trabajar, hace unos días. Pero ahora ya está oscuro cuando voy a trabajar, nada de amaneceres radiantes mientras me tomo el café (al menos hasta dentro de unos meses)

Autumn, But Not Too Much

Once more, we're having unseasonably high temperatures. Too late for an Indian Summer!. It feels totally like a time warp: just when most people were resigned to wear a coat, then the temperature rises to the twenties.

De nuevo tenemos temperaturas demasiado altas para la época del año. Y ya es tarde para el veranillo de San Miguel!. Así que la sensación es la de haber saltado atrás en el tiempo: justo cuando la gente ya estaba resignada a ponerse el abrigo, las temperaturas suben hasta los veintitantos grados.

Still eight days ago, I unearthed my shearling coat and a massive scarf in a crispy cold Monday morning. However I wore them over a cotton maxi skirt, a summery piece that was winterized by adding tigths and a crochet vest. Not the best idea to wear a bulky scarf with a bulky coat, too movement constrictive!. Next time I'll pick a lightweight scarf.

Hace la friolera de ocho días (literalmente), había sacado el abrigo de piel vuelta y una bufanda gorda una mañana de lunes bien fría. Pero también me puse una falda de algodón de verano, que 'inviernicé' poniéndome unas medias y el chalequito de ganchillo. No resultó ser buena idea llevar una bufanda gorda con el abrigo gordo también, tengo que acordarme de escoger algún pañuelo la próxima vez, no me gusta nada la ropa que me impide moverme.
El abrigo fue adquirido de segunda mano, hace años, la bufanda es de una tienda local. La falda es de segunda mano también, pero le añadí unas tiras de tela en colores. El chaleco de ganchillo lo hice yo misma, me llevó demasiado tiempo y no estoy muy contenta finalmente. Al contrario, la boina es un proyecto de ganchillo fácil, que he hecho un montón de veces. Camisa morada de Evans, hace siglos. Zapatos Camper. El habitual bolso de corcho de Fine Cork Portugal. Collar y colgante de una artista local.

Shearling coat was pre-loved (acquired years ago), scarf was retail shopped. That maxi skirt was a second hand find and was 'embellished' by sewing fabric stripes.
Crochet vest by myself, it took me ages, and I'm not particularly happy with it. On the other hand, this kind of crochet beret is an easy project, I made a ton of them!.

Next day was still chilly and windy, but not so much cold. So I picked my black coat, which is not particularly warm despite its appearance (but a good piece for layering!). It was shopped retail last year. Those trousers were also shopped retail. Striped t-shirt by CandA. Crochet cardi, Hexi pattern by Katie Jones (link 'cause I love it). Massive scarf shopped years ago. Adidas sneakers. And a New Bag that was acquired at a local artisan shop.

Al día siguiente todavía seguía fresquito y con mucho viento, pero ya no tan frío. Así que elegí este abrigo negro que, a pesar de su aspecto, no es especialmente abrigado (pero va muy bien para superposiciones). Me lo compré en una tienda local el año pasado. Los pantalones también son de tienda local. Camiseta de rayas del CandA. Chaquetita de ganchillo según un patrón de Katie Jones (que enlazo porque me gusta). Chal-mantón de hace años. Zapatillas Adidas. Y un Bolso Nuevo de una tienda de artesanía.

My repeat offender of the week was those floral trousers. I wore them next day in a similarly dark ensemble, but changed my coat for a lightweight jacket by Seasalt. Because the weather was quickly improving and warming, particularly in the evening (it was even too hot for a jacket!). I wore another crochet piece, but this time it was not made by me, it's actually a lacey crochet waistcoat that Mom made many years ago for me. That green t-shirt was a second hand find. Scarf was shopped retail many years ago.

Mi reincidente de la semana es el pantalón de flores. Me lo puse al día siguiente también con colores oscuros, pero cambié el abrigo por una chaqueta ligera de Seasalt. Porque el tiempo estaba volviéndose más templado, sobre todo por la tarde, incluso como para ir sin chaqueta. También me puse una prenda de ganchillo, pero esta vez no hecha por mí, sino por mi madre: este chaleco de ganchillo fino, que me hizo hace años. La camiseta verde es de segunda mano. Bufanda de tienda local, de hace muchos años.

My purple 'fake suit' is my kind of safe choice when I feel uninspired. This time I had recourse to it because of the unseasonable weather, as most of my 'shoulder season' clothes were already in boxes, stored until spring. So purple to the rescue!.
Both shirt and trousers were second hand finds but acquired months apart. Actually, those trousers were not really trousers when I found them, they were an H&M jumpsuit whose 'top' I folded in two and sewed to create a waist (you can imagine that it was ridiculously designed). Este 'falso traje' color morado es algo a lo que recurrir cuando me siento poco inspirada. Esta vez la culpa fue del tiempo tan poco normal para la época del año, y porque la mayoría de mi ropa de entretiempo está ya en cajas, almacenada hasta la primavera. Púrpura al rescate!
Tanto la camisa como el pantalón son de segunda mano, pero comprados con meses de distancia. En realidad los pantalones no eran siquiera pantalones cuando los encontré, eran un mono-enterizo del H&M, con un top elástico que sólo doblé en dos para hacer una cintura (podéis imaginar que era un diseño ridículo). Gabardina de Seasalt. Zapatillas Adidas. Boina de Ganchillo.

October Winds

The forecasted stormy weather arrived and we had strong winds but skipped the worst effects, so no significant damage to worry about. Obviously, I avoided any wooded area when going for a walk, sensible as I am. However, I noticed that being sensible or taking official advice is not a popular thing.

La borrasca que venían anunciando llegó al fin y tuvimos vientos fuertes pero sin los peores efectos ni daños significativos por aquí. Evidentemente hubo ramas y árboles partidos, así que evité las zonas arboladas en mis paseos. Pero parece que la prudencia y el seguir los consejos oficiales no es algo que mucha gente practique.

I was challenged by some coworkers to wear something appropriate for Halloween, so I wore my 'jazzed up dress' which they loved. Actually, I wear this dress the whole winter long, it would be a shame not doing it!. Halloween is Not a traditional holiday here, but children enjoy it and it's becoming quite popular.

Para Halloween algunos compañeros de trabajo me habían retado a ponerme algo 'temático', así que me puse mi vestido con dibujo de calaverita, y les gustó mucho!. En realidad este vestido me lo pongo todo el invierno, sería una lástima no hacerlo. Halloween no es tradicional, pero ya que gusta tanto a los niños se está volviendo más popular.
El vestido es de segunda mano, con un dibujo de una diseñadora local en Ramonak Workshop, medias Snag, Zapatos Camper. El abrigo lo compré en tienda local (marca Sophiacurvy). Bolso de Emily The Strange.

Strong wind is not the best weather to take pictures, lots of problems to keep my skirt 'in place' (great idea to wear pettipants!;D). I think that colour combo could look springlike, particularly because of white details which I couldn't help but add (matchiness is so addictive!).

Con vientos fuertes se vuelve difícil tomar fotos, incluyendo problemas para mantener la ropa en su lugar (gran idea llevar enaguas ;D). Esta combinación de colores puede resultar más bien primaveral, sobre todo por los detalles en blanco, que no me pude resistir a añadir (soy adicta a conjuntar los colores, lo reconozco).

That was another appearance of some winter classics: polka dot coat and fake dress. When I acquired that coat (years ago) I was told it could be 'too special for a weekday' or that I could get tired of it. Those things never happened. It has become a real workhorse, as it's one of the comfiest coats ever, and goes with most of my clothes!.
The 'fake dress' is actually a top and skirt, but it was once a second hand dress that I revamped. Sneakers by Adidas. Crochet cardi-thing. Scarf was shopped retail decades ago. New pendant acquired recently at a local artisan's workshop.

Esta es otra aparición de algunos clásicos invernales: el abrigo de lunares y el 'falso vestido'. Cuando compré este abrigo (ya hace años) me dijeron que podía resultarme demasiado especial para diario o que me aburriría enseguida. Nunca sucedió. Este abrigo lo llevo a todo trote, porque va con mucha de mi ropa y ¡es comodísimo!
El 'falso vestido' es un top y una falda, pero empezó su vida como un vestido de segunda mano que reconstruí. Zapatillas de Adidas. Especie de chaqueta de ganchillo. Bufanda de una tienda local, hace décadas. El colgante es de una tienda-taller de artesanía local.

Next day it was also windy, so I couldn't take my photos outdoors, just usual crap mirror selfies. My Seasalt trench was perfect for the weather, I even made the most of that hood, very practical indeed but not photogenic. And I wore a skirt in a windy day, totally not sensible, but once the coat is done it's ok. So only my coworkers saw my outfit actually!.

Al día siguiente continuaba el viento, así que ni pude sacar fotos fuera, sólo la habitual foto cutre en el espejo. Para este tipo de clima resulta que mi abrigo impermeable funciona muy bien, incluso me suelo poner la capucha (muy práctico pero nada fotogénico). Y también me puse una falda en un día de viento, que no es buena idea en general, pero no importa mucho una vez que te abrochas el abrigo. Así que esta falda en realidad sólo la vieron en mi trabajo, no se lució nada en la calle. La falda es de costura casera de hace años (la tela es africana), la camisa es de seguna mano (le hice ajustes), medias de Snag, Zapatos Camper, el bolso de corcho de Fine Cork Portugal, pañuelo de tiendecita local de hace años. Un collar de hace años (Aïta) y nuevos pendientes de una tienda local que me gusta mucho, Eme.

My repeat offender of the week was that skirt I wore next day. I tend to wear my midi-skirts (and my jackets) during shoulder seasons, as they're not easy to 'winterize', but keep them in my wardrobe the whole year long (just in case!).
We went for a walk and ran errands (ironmonger, bakery, pharmacy), as usual, and Mr.A. decided to take an 'autumnal photo' of the trees at this urban park. Similar outfit, only adding an orange cardi which was a second hand find years ago. The weather was not particularly bad, even if the sky looked ominous.

Mi reincidente de la semana fue esta falda, que me puse dos días seguidos. Suelo llevar mucho estas faldas a media pierna (y también chaquetas) en el entretiempo, ya que no son fáciles de llevar en invierno, pero las tengo en el armario el año entero (por si acaso!).
Salimos a dar una vuelta y hacer recados (ferretería, panadería, farmacia), como de costumbre, y Mr.A. decidió sacar una foto 'otoñal' de los árboles en este parque. El conjunto es muy similar al anterior, sólo añadí una chaquetita naranja que es de segunda mano. El tiempo no estaba malo en realidad, aunque el cielo parezca amenazante.

The weather was still stormy and windy during bank holiday on November 1st and next days too. Whatever the weather, we took two days off and enjoyed them in our usual wild style: long walks and customary apéro on Saturday morning (we had not tapas & wine everyday, just in case you're thinking on it!).

El tiempo siguió revuelto y con viento durante el festivo del 1 de noviembre y los siguientes días. Pero no nos importó mucho el clima, nos tomamos dos días libres y los disfrutamos en nuestro habitual estilo de vida salvaje: pasear mucho y tomar el vermú el sábado por la mañana (tampoco nos vamos de vinos y tapas todos los días, por si acaso estáis pensándolo!)

Autumn Is For Colours

My blog's accumulated delay has been increasing, but I keep on taking pics and obviously I keep on dressing up everyday (no nudity, particularly when winter is coming). So I'm posting last week's outfits which were still quite 'autumnal'. Now we're under threat from storm Ciarán (as most of you, dear readers) so it's time for winter coats and boots, and I hope we deal with it successfully but I'll tell you about this in a few days!

El atraso acumulado en el blog va creciendo, pero sigo tomando fotos y, evidentemente, me sigo vistiendo cada día (nada de nudismo sobre todo ahora que se acerca el invierno). Así que ahora publico lo que me puse la semana pasada, cuando el tiempo estaba bastante otoñal aún. Ahora se nos viene encima la borrasca Ciarán, y ya estamos de lleno en el tiempo de abrigos y botas, y espero que lo llevemos lo mejor posible. Pero éso lo contaré en unos pocos días ;D

My repeat offender of the week was this mini-dress (a present by Mom, label Udalaitz) which matches lots of colours in my wardrobe (so probably lots of outfits to come). I wore it twice in a row, similar colour combo, and even found those matchy blue shoes in my wardrobe. They were totally neglected for the last two years, since my last orthotics don't fit into them, but I can walk without them now, so these shoes are 'in service' again! (even if not for long walks). Nothing better than shopping your own wardrobe!

Este es mi reincidente de la semana, un minivestido que me regaló mi madre, de la marca Udalaitz, que combina (casualmente) con muchísimos colores de los que ya tengo ropa, así que se viene muchas combinaciones posibles. Me lo puse dos veces seguidas, la combinación es similar, y hasta encontré este par de zapatos que combinan perfecto. Los había tenido olvidados los últimos dos años, desde que me pusieron plantillas nuevas que no les entraban, pero ahora puedo andar sin ellas así que estos zapatos han vuelto al servicio activo (aunque no sea para largos paseos). No hay nada mejor que ir de compras a tu propio armario.

Otro clásico reincidente en el otoño es esta falda naranja, que cosí hace años (12 años ya y hasta hice una recopilación). Suelo llevarla con blanco y negro, muy conjuntado, es tan fácil!

I wore again my crochet pullover and same trousers than previous week, as this is such a comfy outfit to go for a walk (and then have a beer on a terrace, obviously!). So this is another repeat offender, and fashion police is still not asking for me!.

De nuevo este jersey de ganchillo y los mismos pantalones que ya me puse la semana anterior, porque es un conjunto comodísimo para salir a caminar un rato (y tomarse algo en una terraza, ¡claro está!). Así que éste es otro reincidente, y no ha venido a por mí la policía de la moda por repetir modelito.
