Winter & April

I've taken it easy, as I've been feeling exhausted for the last weeks, focused on recovering from my pharyngitis. Lots of people have had some kind of dreaded lurgy these days, and it takes time to fully recover!. I'm still coughing but not particularly hoarse now, after ten days of taking my medicines and speaking as little as possible. Not attending the phone at work has been a silver lining, but I've felt quite frustrated because of the lack of communication and quite sad finally. The wintery weather hasn't helped, I had to resort to warm coats and tights and knits that I had almost stored. Spring is hitting us with usual unpredictable weather, wind, cold, sun and all together again!

Me lo estoy tomando con calma, ya que me sentido cansadísima durante las últimas semanas, recuperándome de la faringitis. Hay un montón de gente que ha tenido alguna clase de resfriado o gripe estos días, y lleva tiempo recuperarse del todo. Todavía sigo tosiendo, pero ya no estoy especialmente ronca, después de diez días de tomar medicamentos y hablar lo menos posible. Ha tenido un lado bueno, que es no tener que atender el teléfono en la oficina, pero no poder hablar te acaba frustrando y afecta al estado de ánimo. Tampoco ayuda que hemos tenido un tiempo invernal, he tenido que recurrir a los abrigos gordos, las medias y esas prendas de punto que ya tenía pensado guardar. La primavera, en su línea habitual, nos sacude con un tiempo impredecible, viento, frío, luego sol y luego todo a la vez!.

It was still not particularly cold when I went back to work last week, but I wore some layers to keep me comfortable, and my puffer jacket which is quite warm (it was a retail purchase). Striped t-shirt by CandA (old), crochet pullover by myself, floral trousers and scarf were retail purchased too. Adidas sneakers (old) and usual cork bag by Fine Cork Portugal. Necklace was charity shopped.

Todavía no hacía tanto frío la semana pasada, cuando volví al trabajo, pero igualmente me puse varias capas para sentirme más calentita y cómoda, y mi chaqueta acolchada naranja que es abrigadita (la compré en una tienda local). Camiseta de rayas del CandA, jersey de ganchillo hecho por mí, pantalón de flores y chal de otra tienda local. Zapatillas Adidas (antiguas) y el habitual bolso de corcho de Fine Cork Portugal. El collar es de una tienda solidaria.

That's another crochet piece, recently finished, I was looking forward to wearing. I picked that vintage 80's dress in satiny blue and green to match my crochet vest-cardi, and carried on with matchy shoes (El Naturalista, I took them to the cobbler to dye in a bold blue, years ago). Tights by Snag. Green trench by Seasalt (old).

Estaba deseando estrenar esta última prenda de crochet que he acabado hace poco. Elegí un vestido vintage ochentero de colores azul y verde satinados, que combinan con los colores del chaleco-chaqueta de ganchillo, y continuando con la combinación, estos zapatos también en tonos similares (El Naturalista, son antiguos y los llevé al zapatero a que los tiñera en este color, hace unos años). Medias Snag. Gabardina verde de Seasalt.

I'd wear in repeat same ensemble, sans tights, as soon as possible. Matchiness makes me happy, don't judge me!

Me encantaría repetir este mismo conjunto, sin las medias, tan pronto como se pueda. Me encanta combinar los colores, no me juzguéis!

As the weather became wintery, I had to resort to warm coats (polka dot coat was acquired retail two years ago, label SophiaCurvy). I wore this geometric dress (a hand-me-down by Mom) which is perfect when I feel uninspired, it's comfy, easy to wear (pockets!) and adds some grooviness to any dull day!. Tights by Snag. Adidas sneakers (old). Massive scarf was shopped retail at Eme, years ago.

Al ponerse el tiempo cada vez más invernal, tuve que echar mano de los abrigos otra vez. El abrigo de lunares lo compré en una tienda local hace dos años (marca SophiaCurvy). Me puse también este vestido geométrico que me pasó mi madre, que es perfecto para esos días en que no sabes qué ponerte, porque es cómodo (bolsillos!) y fácil de combinar y le da un toque animado a cualquier día aburrido. Medias de Snag. Zapatillas Adidas. La bufa-manta la compré en la tienda local Eme hace unos años.

Same coat to keep me warm in another windy cold day. But I tried a different colour combo. I picked that second hand skirt (from Sunday street market), a CandA striped pullover and an ancient black waistcoat. That wool scarf was shopped at an artisan market. Pendant by Ciclón (years old). Adidas sneakers (old).

Mismo abrigo para mantener el comfort en otro día frío y ventoso. Pero intenté otra combinación de colores. La falda es de segunda mano, del mercadillo del domingo, y el jersey de rayas es del CandA, y llevo también un chaleco negro antiquísimo. La bufanda de lana la compré en un mercadillo artesano. Colgante de Ciclón (hace años). Zapatillas Adidas.

The weather has improved last days, so I wore lighter layers. Still rainy and windy, so wore my trusty Seasalt trench coat, as I had to run errands in the evening (great idea, it rained!). I picked that (second hand) pullover and my old turquoise-acqua trousers that I wear a lot of times during springtime. Shoes by Camper. Usual cork bag by Fine Cork Portugal.

El tiempo ha ido mejorando algo los últimos días, así que he ido aligerando la ropa también. Aunque sigue lluvioso y con viento, así que me puse la gabardina de Seasalt, impermeable, ya que tenía que hacer recados por la tarde (y fue buena idea, porque me cayó una chaparrada). El jersey es de segunda mano y los pantalones color turquesa-agua que son antiguos y me los pongo un montón en primavera. Zapatos de Camper. Y el habitual bolso de corcho de Fine Cork Portugal.

My repeat offender of the week was the turquoise-acqua trousers, so comfy!. I paired them with an ancient blouse and a crochet vest I made years ago and then forgot in a drawer. Not my usual attitude (I wear my clothes immediately and as many times as possible), but I have not felt like wearing it. Probably because it was not an enjoyable project, actually I quit crocheting it (or anything!), and took me years to have my crochet mojo back. However it's a lovely vest (I think) and I'll give it another chance.

Mi reincidente de la semana es el pantalón turquesa-agua, que es comodísimo. Esta vez me lo puse con una blusa antiquísima y este chaleco de ganchillo que hice hace unos años y luego metí en un cajón. No es lo que suelo hacer, soy de ponérmelo todo inmediatamente y cuanto más mejor, pero no me apetecía ponérmelo. Probablemente se deba a que no fue un proyecto de ganchillo que disfrutase especialmente, lo abandoné (en realidad, abandoné el ganchillo) y me llevó unos años volver a encontrar la inspiración para acabarlo. Sin embargo, creo que es un chaleco gracioso y tendré que darle otra oportunidad.

I couldn't volunteer at my favourite charity market, as I was still feeling tired. But I gathered my strength and payed it a visit, and acquired these pieces of (pre-loved) jewellery. Sorry that I didn't feel like rummaging a little bit, even ignored the scarves on display, that's how tired I was.

Esta vez no pude echar una mano en el mercadillo solidario al que suelo ayudar, y que está de vuelta este año, porque estaba cansadísima. Pero reuní fuerzas para una visita y compré estas bisuterías. Una lástima que no me sintiera con ganas de rebuscar un poco, incluso pasé de largo ante el expositor de los pañuelos, ¡así de cansada estaba!.
