Heatwave Capsule (& still blogging)

Probably you've noticed it yourselves if living nearby or watched about it in the news (if you're reading this from far away): we had our first Heatwave of the year!. It started in June so it's totally unseasonable, too early for so high temperatures. Obviously, a heatwave can be dangerous for health (common sense, please!), but it has been just annoying for most people, and caused all kind of disturbance in daily life. As usual, only the mornings are suitable for outdoors activities and the evenings are usually spent at home, windows and blinds closed as soon as the sun is high, to keep the temperature at home as low as possible. We only open the windows at night, but sometimes it's still too hot even at midnight (30ºC) so it's difficult to sleep. There are some extra tips for heatwaves, like keeping any fresh fruit or vegetable into the fridge (actually, it's better to keep any food in the fridge, being extra careful!) or never air dry your laundry in direct sunligth if you care for your clothes.
After a week in that climatic lockdown I've felt exhausted and miserable. However we count ourselves lucky because the weather changed on Wednesday to 'normal summer' under 35ºC and nights at 18ºC. Probably it looks suffocant for my northern readers, but it feels revitalizing here.

Como ya habréis notado si vivís por aquí cerca, o habréis visto en las noticias si me leéis desde más lejos, hemos tenido nuestra primera ola de calor de la temporada. Empezó a finales de junio, demasiado pronto y totalmente fuera de lo normal para este calor. Evidentemente, también es un riesgo para la salud (hay que tomar precauciones de sentido común!) pero para la mayoría es simplemente un fastidio que causa toda clase de molestias en la vida diaria. Como de costumbre, sólo se puede estar fuera durante la mañana, las tardes se pasan en casita, con ventanas y persianas cerradas tan pronto como el sol está alto, y así mantener la casa lo más fresca posible. Abrimos las ventanas sólo por la noche, pero aún así a veces ni refresca y tenemos 30ºC a medianoche, con lo que no se puede dormir. También hay algunos pequeños consejos más en estas temperaturas, como que hay que guardar las frutas y verduras en el frigo (mejor guardar cualquier comida, por seguridad) y que no hay que colgar la ropa a secar a pleno sol si quieres conservarla.
Después de una semanita en este confinamiento climático ya se siente una agotada y miserable. Pero tuvimos la suerte de que el miércoles cambiase el tiempo, bajó la temperatura hasta un calor de verano 'normal' con noches a 18ºC, que igual no parece gran cosa, pero te da la vida.

Nothing new to show, just the same Heatwave Capsule I've been wearing for years, only a few additions. That dress came from Vinted on May2024 and I've worn it frequently during the winter (it layers nicely!) but it's a cotton gauze dress so totally summery. One of the advantages of summer season is that dressing up is really easy, all you need is to throw on a dress, put on a pair of sandals and add some accessories. However, accessorizing can make a difference even in the awful heat when you feel uninspired.
De nuevo he echado mano de los clásicos de ola de calor, que tengo hace años, con algunos añadidos. Este vestido es de Vinted y lo tengo desde Mayo2024, me lo he puesto frecuentemente en invierno porque admite bien las superposiciones. Pero es un vestido de gasa de algodón totalmente veraniego. Una de las ventajas del verano es que te puedes vestir en un momentito, todo lo que necesitas es echarte encima un vestido, calzarte unas sandalias y añadir unos accesorios y listo. Pero son los accesorios los que marcan la diferencia, aunque haga un calor de los demonios y una no tenga ganas de ná!

Another gauze dress which was also acquired second hand and worn again and again for years. Totally a favourite. I've shopped recently a pair of new sandals (by Paredes, outlet) which are particularly comfortable (thick squashy soles and velcro straps). That cork bag is by Fine Cork Portugal and was shopped years ago. Necklace came from an artisan fair.

Otro vestido de gasa de algodón que también es de segunda mano y que me he puesto un montón a lo largo de varios años. Un favorito, vamos. Con unas sandalias nuevas de Paredes, que son especialmente cómodas, con suelas gruesas y mullidas y cierres de velcro!. El bolso de corcho es de Fine Cork Portugal y lo compré hace años. El collar es de una feria de artesanía.

That's another one of my Heatwave Capsule outfits, a second hand linen tunic and lightweight trousers by PuntRoma with Chiruca sandals. I've worn it many times, as it feels wonderfully fresh even when it's 40ºC. Obviously, I picked some accessories and a hat!. The bracelets are homegrown vintage (80's), that necklace was charity shopped and those earrings and ring were retail shopped. Usual straw bag came from Etsy years ago.

Otro de mis clásicos para las olas de calor, una túnica de lino (de segunda mano) y un pantalón ligerísimo de PuntRoma, con sandalias Chiruca. Me lo he puesto un montón de veces, es de lo más fresquito que tengo aunque haga 40ºC. Claro está, también le añadí unos accesorios y un sombrerito. Los brazaletes son vintage de mi propia cosecha (son ochenteros!), el collar es de un mercadillo solidario y los pendientes y el anillo de tiendas locales. El bolso de paja de siempre lo compré en Etsy hace ya varios años.

The weather, mercifully, was back to business as usual on Wednesday, normal summer conditions of 30 to 35ºC and the best part is that temperature drops at night. So everybody can have some good quality sleep, and be in a better mood (which creates a better atmosphere at work too!). I felt particularly happy to wear a lightweight cardi in the morning, and this highly visible crochet cardi was my repeat offender of the week, as I wore it the next day too (same skirt too!). Both blouse and skirt were acquired second hand and revamped. Turquoise pendant came from Vinted.

Afortunadamente el tiempo volvió a la 'normalidad' el miércoles, a una temperatura de verano de 30 a 35ºC y lo mejor es que refresca por las noches. Así que se puede dormir bien y eso siempre repercute en la atmósfera general, se van los malos humores y las malas caras!. Y a mí me alegró mucho poder ponerme una chaquetita de ganchillo por la mañana, tanto que hasta la volví a llevar al día siguiente (y con la misma falda!, reincidente!). La blusa y la falda son las dos de segunda mano reformadas por mí. El colgante turquesa es de Vinted.

The next day I picked an orange peasant blouse and some beads to go with my skirt and cardi combo. Everything is second hand or charity shopped except sandals by Paredes (outlet) and retail shopped earrings. Yellow straw bag was also retail shopped. And yes, that's a baguette in my bag, Real Life!.
Al día siguiente repetí falda y chaquetita pero elegí una blusa naranja con un surtido de collares de bolitas. Todo es de segunda mano o de tiendas solidarias, excepto las sandalias de Paredes (outlet) y los pendientes que son de una tienda local. El bolso amarillo también lo compré en una tiendita de por aquí.

So I'm taking it easy, waiting for the best and publishing this post (in case that comments work in a new post). Well, hope that you're not having issues. I'll be back on Monday and will take care of this problem!

Plein Soleil

Still June and I'm totally fed up with the suffocating heat, as we've had over 35ºC for a week (and we count ourselves lucky as it's being even worse in the centre and south of Spain). But that was not enough to be considered a heatwave. The real Heatwave-From-Hell is forecasted for the weekend and next days in the week, when we will reach 39ºC day after day. Not my cup of tea, but I don't want to complain. Because we're totally privileged: we can go to the nearby lido for a swimm, our home is quite well isolated, we have even awnings in our balcony and we work in air conditioned offices. Anyway, it's too early for this kind of weather, probably a whole month too early.

Todavía estamos en junio y ya estoy hartita del calor, hemos estado a más de 35ºC una semana y aún hay que considerarse afortunado porque es peor en el centro y sur del país. Pero ésto no era ni siquiera una ola de calor. La señora Ola De Calor (del infierno) es la que está previsto que nos llegue para el fin de semana y días siguientes, cuando vamos a tener 39ºC y subiendo cada día. Ya se nota que no me gusta nada, pero tampoco hay que quejarse, porque al fin somos privilegiados: tenemos las piscinas públicas al lado para ir a nadar, tenemos la casa bastante bien aislada y tenemos hasta toldo en el balcón, y además trabajamos en oficina con aire acondicionado. Así que hay gente pasándolo mucho peor. Pero sigue siendo muy pronto para este calor, esto sería normal en julio más bien.

But let's talk on clothes!. That's what I wore last weekend for our usual groceries shopping morning, something comfy and vitaminic. Orange is the new orange!. I asked Mr.A. to take a photo in those centric city gardens with the remaining roses. Wearing comfy trousers by LaRedoute (acquired years ago), second hand top. Chiruca sandals (last year). Retail shopped hat. That necklace is years old, and the nylon crossbody bag is decades old.

Pero hablemos de conjuntitos!. Esto es lo que me puse la semana pasada para ir a hacer la compra por la mañana, un conjunto cómodo y vitamínico. El naranja es el nuevo naranja. Le pedí a Mr.A. que me tomase una foto en estos jardines del centro de la ciudad donde aún quedan algunas rosas. Llevaba unos pantalones muy cómodos de LaRedoute (hace años) y top de segunda mano. Sandalias Chiruca (del año pasado). Sombrerito de tienda local. El collar tiene años y el bolsito cruzado, décadas.

The weather was still 'normal summer weather' when I wore that maxi skirt and blouse combo. So I picked a shawl to go to work in the early morning, so probably it was a little bit chilly (so lovely to have chilly mornings, I miss them now, it feels like ages ago). That maxi skirt was made of a second hand dress (I just removed its top). The blouse was also second hand from Sunday street market. Retail shopped sandals. Usual straw bag was acquired years ago at Etsy. Charity shopped shawl.

El tiempo todavía estaba en modo 'verano normal' cuando llevaba esta falda y blusa, e incluso me puse un pañuelo para salir por la mañana temprano rumbo al trabajo. Me encantan esas mañanas fresquitas, cómo las echo de menos y qué lejos me parecen. La falda está hecha de un vestido de segunda mano (le quité la parte de arriba y listo). La blusa también es de segunda mano del mercadillo del domingo. Sandalias de tienda local. Y el bolso de paja de siempre lo compré hace años en Etsy. Pañuelo de un mercadillo solidario.

Not completely happy with that outfit, I didn't felt it. I was looking forward to wearing that new-to-me jungle print shirt, but the monchromatic ensemble looks a little boring for me. Comfy trousers by CandA, second hand shirt, white sandals by Wonders (years ago), charity shopped necklace and a silver pendant.

Este conjunto no acabó de convencerme, aunque estaba deseando estrenar la camisa de estampado jungla, pero el resultado me parece demasiado monocromático, un poco aburrido. Los pantalones cómodos del CandA, camisa de segunda mano, sandalias blancas Wonders (de hace años), collar de una tienda solidaria y un colgante.

And now some of my 'from office to pool' outfits. I usually wear a dress when going to the lido for a swimm after work. Comfort is first so lightweight fabrics and floaty textures are welcome (37-38ºC can feel really annoying). Obviously, I also pick some simple jewellery which I can take off quickly. Both dresses were acquired at Vinted, last year. Vintage necklace was a present. That straw hat was retail shopped last year.

Y ahora algunos de los vestidos que llevé 'de la oficina a la piscina', ya que suelo ponerme un vestido si pienso ir a nadar después del trabajo. La comodidad es lo primero, así que hay que buscar telas ligeras y con textura fluida con caída (porque 37-38ºC pueden llegar a ser cargantes). Y claro está, también elijo accesorios y bisutería que me pueda quitar con facilidad. Ambos vestidos vinieron de Vinted, el año pasado. El collar vintage fue un regalo. El sombrerito de paja de una tienda local, lo compré el año pasado.

That's another dress from Vinted (label Toscane) and one of my favourite ones (the viscose fabric feels so floaty and fresh!). Massive hat for sunblocking and a pair of comfy sandals (by Chiruca) is all you need to go for the day!. And what a day it was!. We're in full hectic season at work!

Este vestido también es de Vinted (marca Toscane) y es uno de mis favoritos, sobre todo porque la tela es viscosa y se siente muy ligera y fresca. Con un sombrero grande para quitarte el sol y un par de sandalias cómodas (éstas son Chiruca) ya estás lista para afrontar el día, aunque sea un día liadísimo, porque estamos en plena temporada alta en el trabajo!.

That's one of my favourite places in the city, the local market, and I count myself lucky because I can do my groceries shopping in that beautiful building which is fifteen minutes from home. It's really sad that so many stalls are closing!.

Este es uno de mis lugares favoritos de la ciudad, el mercado, y me considero con suerte de poder hacer la compra en un edificio tan bonito, y además a un cuarto de hora de casa. Me da mucha pena la cantidad de puestos vacíos y los que van cerrando!

Out & About

We've been visiting Mr.A's parents for some weeks, but it was not a leisure trip. Even if we managed to find the time for some walks, we spent most of the time with Mr.A's mom who had to undergo surgery, and then she has been recovering at home. Everything was ok and she can walk now, but still having an annoying special diet for a while. So good news after some really anxiety-inducing days.
Obviously, I'm keeping my blog as lighthearted as possible, and sharing my outfits as usual. Having this (quite frivolous) blog has been really useful to keep my spirits up in the past when going trough some serious problems. Don't understimate the power of good vibes, colour therapy and inspiring blogger friends!

Hemos estado visitando a los padres de Mr.A. un par de semanas, pero no ha sido un viaje de placer. Aunque hemos tenido algunos ratos para salir por ahí y entretenernos, mucho tiempo lo hemos pasado acompañando a la mamá de Mr.A. en el hospital y luego en casa después de su operación. Todo salió bien finalmente y ya está recuperándose y caminando, aunque aún tenga una dieta 'especial' bastante fastidiosa. Así que al fin son buenas noticias después de pasar unos días de mucha ansiedad.
Y a continuación seguiré entretenida hablando de trapos y modelitos, como de costumbre, y creo que tener este rincón (de frivolidad) contribuye a sentirse un poco mejor. Nada de dramas, y mucha actitud positiva, color a tope y buenas amigas blogueras.

As the weather was increasingly summery, I packed some of my fav cotton dresses, that have been in a wear-wash-repeat cycle for two weeks. Always good idea to have some no-iron dresses for your travels!. This one was acquired at Vinted a year ago and worn many times. Cross-body bag was retail shopped locally. Sandals by Chiruca (old). Necklace from Vinted too.

Como el tiempo estaba cada vez más veraniego, metí en la maleta unos cuantos vestidos ligeros de algodón, que he estado llevando una y otra vez durante dos semanas, ya que se lavan estupendamente y no hay que plancharlos. Siempre buena idea tener vestidos así para los viajes. Este concretamente es de Vinted, de hace un año, y lo he llevado muchas veces. El bolsito es de una tienda local. Sandalias de Chiruca (antigüitas) y el collar de Vinted también.

Mr.A. took me to some of the best places for tapas, which are a local tradition in León (see more here). We celebrated Mr.A's birthday in our usual style, having some appetizers!.

Mr.A. me llevó a unos sitios buenísimos de tapas, que son una tradición local en León. Y así celebramos su cumpleaños, en nuestro estilo habitual, tomando el vermú.

We made the most of Saturday morning and enjoyed a visit to a Modernism exhibition at Casa Botines Museum, a fabulous modernist building itself. As a modernist lover I felt immediately drawned by that 'beauty of the everyday objects' in the poster. It was a small exhibition, but I could watch some magnificent pieces, so totally enjoyed it.

El sábado por la mañana aprovechamos para visitar una exposición temporal en Casa Botines sobre modernismo, además de ver el edificio en sí, que es también modernista, así que me encantó todo (soy muy fan). La exposición es pequeñita, pero tiene algunas piezas muy bonitas y me gustó. Por supuesto, el edificio ya vale la pena la visita!.

I'm back to business as usual, which means hectic season at work, lots of emails waiting for me. But it's also cherries and peaches season, so we've visited local farmers to buy some of these fruits. And I took a photo near the trees!.

Y ahora ya estoy de vuelta a la vida cotidiana, que significa que estoy de vuelta a la temporada de más trabajo en la oficina, a tope de emails. Pero también es la temporada de las cerezas y melocotones, así que fuimos a los huertos de aquí al lado a comprar fruta, y también me saqué foto junto a los árboles, porque me gustan tanto!

Entretiempo

The spanish word 'entretiempo' can be traslated as the warmer side of Spring or Autum, when the weather is unpredictable and changes every other day but it feels like Summer most of the time (or we want to believe that). It's a challenge to dress up these days!. I've been layering up and down, but still failed miserably some days and felt suffocated in knits or almost freezed myself in lighweight dresses and bare legs. However it's still an interesting time of the year and I do love layering, so I'm enjoying it!

El concepto de 'entretiempo' se aplica perfectamente a estas últimas semanas, se acerca el verano pero no acaba de llegar y el tiempo cambia cada día, haciendo muy difícil elegir qué ponerse. Por mucho que me gusten las superposiciones, que permiten quitarse y ponerse capas según cambie el tiempo, a veces no aciertas. Y acabas sofocadísima con una chaqueta de punto, o casi te hielas con ese vestidito de verano y piernas al aire. Pero sigue siendo una época muy entretenida y llena de posibilidades!.

I was ready for some rain and wind on Monday so wore my Seasalt jacket but also open shoes so not the most sensible thing ever. Finally we had not that forecasted rain, only a chilly wind and some menacing dark clouds. So I count myself lucky.

El lunes estaba todo listo para la lluvia y el viento, elegí esta chaqueta impermeable de Seasalt, pero luego me puse zapatos medio destalonados, que no son la mejor decisión si llueve. En fin, al final tuve suerte y no tuvimos esa lluvia que habían pronosticado, sólo hizo un día de viento norte y nubes oscuras. Menos mal!.

It was distinctively warmer next day, so I wore lighter clothes (but still did some layering). We even had some sunshine so I made the most of it and did two loads of laundry (I lead such a wild lifestyle!). I picked those comfy trousers (that I bought last year at a clearance sale/outlet: see it here) with an old purple shirt and that yellow cardi that I have had forever (it was shopped at eBay and I overdyed it in a warmer yellow). Beads and earrings were shopped retail (ten years apart). That straw bag was shopped retail too, years ago.

Al día siguiente hacía una temperatura distintivamente más cálida, así que elegí prendas más ligeras, pero aún llevé varias capas. Y además aproveché el rato de sol para poner dos lavadoras (qué vida tan interesante llevo!). Estos pantalones son muy cómodos, los compré el año pasado en una tienda outlet/liquidación (previamente) y los llevé con una blusa morada antigüita y una chaquetita amarilla que tengo hace siglos (la compré en eBay y luego la teñí en un tono más brillante de amarillo). El collar y los pendientes son de tiendas locales (comprados con diez años de diferencia). El bolso es también de tienda local, de hace años.

That orange dress was acquired (second hand) last September but I wore it for the first time in October and then stored with my summery clothes. So it feels like a new thing to me, and I'm looking forward to wear it all summer long, so lightweight!. Obviously, I went for an 'Orange Is The New Orange' vibe and wore my orange crochet cardi-vest and my orange trench (LaRedoute, old). And orange sneakers (Adidas, outlet) too. That necklace was a present (ages ago). Usual cork bag by Fine Cork Portugal.

Este vestido naranja lo compré de segunda mano el pasado septiembre y lo estrené allá por October, pero ha estado guardado desde entonces con la ropa de verano. Así que ahora es como descubrir una prenda nueva, me apetece mucho llevarlo en verano, es muy ligero!. Evidentemente tenía que ir a por un estilo Naranja Total y me puse la chaqueta-chaleco de ganchillo y mi gabardina naranja (de LaRedoute, antigüita). Y zapatillas naranja (de Adidas outlet). El collar fue un regalo, hace años. El bolso de corcho de siempre es de Fine Cork Portugal.

I kept that vitaminic inspiration next day, but picked a warmer coat as it was a chilly morning (7ºC). Totally a Repeat Offender outfit, as I've worn it many times. That puff jacket was shopped retail last year. Dress from Vinted. Charity shopped necklace and scarf. And I added some arm-candy for a more summery vibe. Massive leather bag from a local artisan.

Seguimos con el mismo color y actitud vitamínica al día siguiente, pero con un abrigo más calentito, porque hacía 7ºC por la mañana. Este conjunto es reincidente del todo, lo he sacado muchas veces. La chaqueta acolchada la compré en una tienda local el año pasado. Vestido de Vinted. El collar y el pañuelo son de tiendas solidarias. Y me puse también un surtido de pulseras para darle un aire más veraniego. El bolso de cuero es de una tienda de artesanía local.

Friday asked for a change, so I picked a different colour combo and a new-to-me dress from Vinted. I was a little bit dissapointed when received that dress, as I expected bolder colours, but those ones suit my wardrobe too, I think. And that dress is going to be my last one at Vinted for a while, I feel like taking a break from shopping. So I'm going to review my wardrobe and take my time to restyle some pieces (there's a pile of 'projects' waiting for some attention).

Para el viernes me apetecía un cambio, así que elegí una combinación de colores diferente y un vestido nuevo-para-mí del Vinted. Cuando recibí este vestido me sentí algo decepcionada porque esperaba colores más vivos, pero creo que estos tonos también me van a venir bien, finalmente. Y este es mi último vestido en Vinted por una temporada, me apetece tomarme un descanso de las compras. Así que me voy a dedicar a revisar el armario, y tomarme mi tiempo para arreglar y modificar algunas prendas que esperan mi atención hace rato.

Rainy Spring

Our unpredictable spring weather keeps playing havoc, one day brings sunshine and lovely temperatures and next day is Totally Winter. And we're still having storms almost everyday, quite unusual!. I should be wearing sandals!.

Seguimos con el habitual tiempo primaveral impredecible, yendo de un día de sol casi de verano al siguiente llevándonos de vuelta al invierno. Y todavía tenemos tormentas casi cada día, ya es un poquito demasiado. Tendría que estar llevando sandalias ya!

I've been currently wearing my 'shoulder season' favourites, particularly the massive blue trousers. I acquired them at a second hand stall in a street market and it costed me 2€. Not a bad price for a quality piece which looks like a design piece (interesting pattern, good confection, heavy cotton fabric). Totally a lucky find!

Me he estado poniendo mis clásicos de entretiempo, en especial estos pantalones azules tan enormes. Los encontré en un puesto de ropa de segunda mano del mercadillo y me costaron 2€, ni tan mal por una prenda de calidad que parece de diseño (el patrón es complicado, lleva mucha confección y la tela es buena), así que es de mis mejores hallazgos!.

Obviously, I had to make the most of those trousers as they're only suitable for a small window time frame (neither hot nor cold weather), so wore them three times in a row. Repeat Offender of the week!. That's another crochet cardi by myself (pattern by Katie Jones, if you're interested). And another striped t-shirt from my collection (that one came from CandA). Sneakers by Camper.

Claro está que tenía que aprovechar este pantalón todo lo posible, porque la ventana de tiempo disponible es reducida, es el tipo de prenda totalmente de entretiempo. Así que me lo he puesto tres veces seguidas, modo reincidente. Y esta es otra de mis chaquetas de ganchillo (el patrón es de Katie Jones), y otra de mis camisetas de rayas (del CandA), y zapatillas de Camper.

Matchy colours!. Even if I still like some black colour, particularly in dramatic patterns, I don't feel like wearing lots of it anymore. So that's not a favourite outfit, but a comfy, walkable outfit that worked nicely for a day at the office and then some groceries shopping, no fuss!.

Back to my colourful self, I wore my 'bold pastels' pullover (thanks to Beate for that naming!) with some pink trousers (they were retail shopped when on holiday). And I had to add another layer, a rain&wind proof layer, so I picked my neon windbreaker which is a really practical piece (and highly visible too). And that was what I wore on Friday to wave goodbye to an hectic work week and some anxiety inducing plans for next weeks (which I will tell you soon!). But still blogging!

De vuelta a mi habitual colorido, me puse este jersey de ganchillo multicolor con unos pantalones rosa que compré en una tiendecita cuando estaba de vacaciones. Tenía que añadirle otra capa más, para el viento y la lluvia, así que elegí esta especie de gabardina-cortavientos en un color bien visible, que además es muy práctica. Y esto es lo que me puse el viernes para despedir una semana ocupadísima de trabajo y un poco agobiada por tantos planes para las semanas siguientes. Pero eso ya lo contaré más adelante!

Mom gave me that amazing set during our last visit. It's homegrown vintage, as it has been at home for ages (fifty years!). I feel a little bit intimidated by porcelain but what's the point in having homeware that you never use?. I'll serve coffee to my friends in fine porcelain!. It's a 'merienda' set, so it includes dessert plates, coffee cups with their saucers, and a serving platter. If you're interested, 'merienda' is similar to afternoon tea in Spain, only that we don't have tea!. Sometimes it's just an early dinner that we call merienda-cena (not all spanish people have dinner at ten in the night) but traditionally it's a light meal that includes sandwiches, pastries or snacks and some coffee or hot cocoa for children. We take our food seriously!

Este juego de merienda me lo dió mi madre en nuestra última visita, puede considerarse vintage porque tiene como cincuenta años, y es de porcelana, lo que intimida un poco. Pero tampoco entiendo el sentido de tener vajilla que no usas jamás, así que serviré el café a mis amigos en porcelana fina. Es demasiado bonito como para no lucirlo!. Me hace gracia que es un juego de merienda, muy específico!.

Spring Blues

As spring is going strong, the temperature has raised, but we're also having storms almost everyday. Which can be sorted out (sometimes) by paying attention to weather forecast, hour by hour, and then addapting plans to it. Actually we've been caught in the rain twice and got soaked, but we're still making the most of sunny spells to go for a walk or run errands (which keep being our most interesting activities).
I've felt like wearing comfy clothes in that unpredictable weather conditions, so picked that lightweight puff coat most days. It's not waterproof but water-resistant, enough for a light drizzle but not so much if you get caught in a storm. Also great for windy days, and we're having plenty of them too!. Once I picked that blue colour, I felt immediately appealed by matchiness, so added layers of blue and turquoise. Easy peasy!

La primavera sigue su curso y las temperaturas van subiendo, pero también hemos tenido tormentas casi cada día. Así que hay que prestar mucha atención a los pronósticos del tiempo (hay que mirarlos casi cada hora) y luego adaptar los planes. Aún así, nos ha pillado de lleno la lluvia dos veces, y hemos acabado calados una vez. Pero seguimos aprovechando cada ratito de sol para salir, pasear y hacer recados (que son nuestras interesantísimas actividades principales)
Me apetecía ponerme algo cómodo en este clima tan impredecible, así que elegí este abrigo acolchado muy ligero. Me lo he puesto muchos días!. No es totalmente impermeable, pero resiste una llovizna fina, no un chaparrón de tormenta. Y también es práctico para el viento, y hemos tenido mucho estos días. Así que, una ve elegido este color azul, al momento fue fácil añadirle más colores combinados, montones de azules y turquesas, que es facilísimo!

Last weekend was extra-large for those people who could take Friday off, making the most of Thursday (May 1st) being a holiday bank. Not me!.
The weather was typically springy and it was chilly in the morning, so I wore opaques once more (by Snag) which feels like a retrogression after going bare-legged for weeks!. Actually, I've been feeling that the weather was going in reverse all the week, taking us back into Winter (but there is always a week or so like that in our Spring, totally dissapointing!). Colourful dress to the rescue! (that came from Vinted last year). Usual coat by Ulla Popken. Shoes by ElNaturalista, ages old and overdyed. Necklace was charity shopped. Scarf by AlpagaMonde. Straw bag was shopped retail years ago. And yes, it's ok to wear a straw bag with a puff coat, in my book!.

El fin de semana pasado mucha gente se tomó el viernes libre para hacer puente, porque el jueves ya era festivo (el primero de mayo), pero a mí no me tocó.
El tiempo estaba típicamente primaveral, frío por las mañanas, así que tuve que recurrir a las medias opacas de nuevo (de Snag), una verdadera vuelta atrás después de haber ido con las piernas al aire durante semanas ya. Parece que el tiempo va para atrás y nos está llevando al invierno, pero es que siempre hay una semanita así en primavera, muy decepcionante. Pero siempre queda vestirse a todo color, como con este vestido que compré en Vinted el año pasado. El abriguito es de Ulla Popken. Zapatos merceditas de ElNaturalista, antiquísimos y teñidos. El collar es de una tienda solidaria. Pañuelo de AlpagaMonde. El bolso de paja es de una tienda local de hace años. Y sí, se puede llevar un bolso de mimbre y un abrigo acolchado, es primavera!.

El reincidente de la semana, además del abrigo, es esta chaqueta-chaleco en azules y verdelima. Muy buena superposición para estos días lluviosos. That cardi-vest again, and lots of matchiness too. That vintage 80's dress was a present. Sneakers by Skechers. Fishnets by Snag, which are a great idea for Spring if you dislike nylons (like me).

Misma chaqueta-chaleco de ganchillo otra vez, y de nuevo todo muy combinado en azules. El vestido vintage ochentero fue un regalo. Zapatillas Skechers. Medias de rejilla de Snag, que son muy buena idea para primavera si no te gustan las medias de nailon, como me pasa a mí (tengo mis manías).

Spring & Layers

Even if I'm going to talk about last week's outfit (as usual), it seems necessary to comment something about last Monday's blackout. We count ourselves lucky, as neither family nor friends had any problem, apart from having a cold lunch. As we're the kind of old-fashioned people who still listen to the radio (and it's a battery powered one) we kept ourselves informed and shared info with neighbours and acquaintances who stopped for a chat. We kept in touch through whatsup or telegram, as telephones and internet didn't work for some hours (nothing dramatic, except for those trapped in a lift or having a real emergency). Actually, we were reading and listening to the news after lunch when we got the power back on after five hours (other people had to wait for ten hours or so). Once more, we counted ourselves lucky!. Then we went for a walk through the city parks, where people were enjoying the summery weather, playing and running or cycling and walking their dogs as usual. Even if some people have ran to buy lanterns or camping stoves, most people have carried on with their lives smoothly. And that's my own experience on last Monday's blackout!
Aunque vaya a hacer mi habitual recapitulación de la semana pasada, sería necesario compartir algo sobre el apagón del lunes. La verdad es que tenemos la suerte de que no nos haya pasado nada relevante, ni tampoco a amigos ni familiares, aparte de tener que apañarse con una comida fría o subir andando escaleras. Somos gente anticuada que tiene transistor a pilas, así que estuvimos informados y de paso contamos novedades a vecinos y conocidos, porque la gente se paraba a charlar. También estuvimos en contacto por whatsup o telegram, sin teléfono ni internet (que tampoco es un drama, salvo para los que se quedaron atrapados en el ascensor o tuvieron una emergencia de verdad). En realidad, simplemente estuvimos leyendo y escuchando las noticias, hasta que vino la luz después de unas cinco horas (tuvimos mucha suerte, de nuevo, porque otra gente tuvo que esperar diez horas o más). Así que luego salimos a pasear por los parques de la ciudad, donde la gente estaba aprovechando el tiempo buenísimo que hacía, paseando, corriendo, andando en bici o paseando al perro, como suele suceder. Aparte de alguna gente que salió corriendo a comprar linternas y hornillos de camping, la mayoría ha seguido con su vida normalmente. Y hasta aquí mi experiencia personal.

Now I'll take you to previous weekend, when we just went for a walk and ran errands. There were some menacing clouds so I carried an umbrella, but there were just some showers, nothing too annoying. Wind has been really mischevious for weeks, so my skirts and dresses look quite 'lively' in the pictures I took. And some days outdoors photos were not possible at all!

Y ahora vamos de vuelta a la semana pasada, justa al momento en que salimos a hacer recados como de costumbre el sábado. Como había nubes oscuras, me llevé el paraguas, aunque al final sólo fueron unas lloviznas, nada grave. El viento sí que ha estado molesto desde hace tiempo, así que es complicado sacar fotos, las faldas y vestidos salen siempre muy 'animadas'. A veces ni se puede tomar fotos fuera.

I was looking forward to wearing that black&white dress, but had to wait for warmer weather!. It was a second hand find at Vinted (label PuntRoma), mint condition and quite affordable considering their usual prices. I have a weakness for black&white with red accents, so I picked that classic colour combo, but probably will try something different next time. Second hand red jacket (from Sunday street market), red shoes by Camper (old), Snag fishnets, black rainjacket by Seasalt (years ago), that ancient tartan bag was recently rediscovered in my own wardrobe.

Estaba deseando estrenar este vestido en blanco y negro, pero tuve que esperar a que mejorase el tiempo. Es un vestido de segunda mano de Vinted (marca PuntRoma), en perfecto estado y por un precio mucho más razonable de lo que piden normalmente. Como tengo una debilidad por el blanco+negro con toques de rojo, elegí esta combinación tan clásica, pero seguro que en el futuro intento algo distinto. La chaqueta roja es de segunda mano, del meradillo, zapatos rojos de Camper, medias rejilla de Snag, gabardina de Seasalt (de hace años) y un bolso de cuadros escoceses que encontré al fondo del armario.

I felt like doing some themed outfits next days, so I wore more black&white dresses. First one was that striped one that I shopped at PuntRoma on summer sales. However, it's not suitable for summer (at least for our spanish summer) as it's made of thick polyester. Totally an autumn/winter dress in my book, perfect for layering in the colder months, so it's going to be stored soon!.

Me apetecía continuar con la misma temática los siguientes días, así que me puse otros vestidos en blancoynegro. El primero, este vestido de rayas del PuntRoma que compré en rebajas de verano. Sin embargo, no es para nada un vestido de verano (al menos para el verano de aquí), porque es de poliéster. Para mí es un vestido de entretiempo o de invierno, con unas buenas superposiciones para los meses fríos, así que ahora mismo está a punto de irse a guardar en una caja.

Muy reincidente, me puse otro vestido blancoynegro con la misma chaqueta de ganchillo, muy agradable para una mañana fresquita. Este vestido es antigüito, puede que tenga ya varias décadas, así que se está convirtiendo en vintage!.

I went back to my usual colourful self next days, and also back to my puff coats/jackets. It's chilly in the mornings at 5ºc!. I have those trousers in three different colours, they're a favourite for shoulder seasons. I'm not the kind of people who buy same item in multiple colours, but comfy trousers in cool colours are not easy to find (in my size), so I went into hoarder mood as soon as I saw those. Crochet pullover by myself. Retail shopped puff jacket (two years ago). Sneakers by Adidas outlet.

De vuelta a mi habitual colorido en los siguientes días, y también de vuelta a los abrigos y chaquetas acolchados. Hacía frío por las mañanas a 5ºC!. Tengo estos pantalones en tres colores, y me encantan para el entretiempo. No suelo comprar la misma prenda en múltiples colores, pero los pantalones cómodos en colores chulos no son fáciles de encontrar (en mi talla) así que me puse en modo acumulador cuando encontré estos. Jersey de ganchillo, chaqueta acolchada de una tienda local (hace dos años) y zapatillas de Adidas outlet.

Same trousers next day, but a different ensemble. I've worn that ancient beach dress as a shirt over a striped t-shirt a thousand times!. Puff coat by Ulla Popken has been a recent purchase and I'm quite happy with its lovely colour (not sponsored!)
Mismos pantalones al día siguiente, pero en una combinación distinta. Me he puesto unas mil veces ese mismo vestido de playa a modo de sobrecamisa, con una camiseta de rayas. El abrigo acolchado de Ulla Popken lo compré hace poco y me está gustando el color (y no estoy patrocinada!).

Another windy day, so I wore that puff coat again!. But I was feeling like wearing something summery, so went shopping to my own wardrobe and picked one of my favourite pieces, that colourful tunic which never fails to cheer me up. That's a tunic by Antica Sartoria (sometimes I indulge myself with a full price item, not frequently), years old!. Leggings by LaRedoute. Ages old mary-janes by ElNaturalista (overdyed). Scarf by AlpagaMonde. Yellow straw basket was retail shopped years ago.

Otro día de mucho viento, así que me puse otra vez ese abrigo. Pero me apetecía llevar algo más veraniego, así que me fui de compras a mi armario y encontré esta túnica, que es de mis cosas favoritas y siempre me anima. Es una túnica de Antica Sartoria, que compré sin rebajas, porque muy de vez en cuando hay que invertir en algo estupendo (la tengo hace años). Leggings de LaRedoute.
